We are happy to welcome Vivian Lin for her four-week externship. Vivian is completing her final year as a student doctor at the City University of Hong Kong, Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences. After her externship and completion of her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in Hong Kong, Vivian intends to become an Equine Practitioner, hopefully at the racetrack! In her spare time, she enjoys playing Level D1 competitive tennis and spending time with her 6-month-old puppy, 2 cats, birds, and fish. Be sure to say hello if you see her!

Just a reminder - our hospital is Closed today for our Annual Equine Spring Wellness Clinic! If you have a small animal emergency please seek out your nearest emergency hospital. For all non-emergent matters we will reopen on Monday, March 17th at 8:30am.

We are SO excited to announce that our nurse Jenna has been accepted into the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine! She has worked so hard and we are incredibly proud of her! Jenna earned her Bachelors in Neuroscience from the University of Louisville in 2023. Her professional interests include microbiology, neurobiology, and relationship-centered care and strengthening the human-animal bond. She plans to be a mixed-animal veterinarian upon graduation from veterinary school.
Jenna is eager to begin her studies in the fall. Until then, Dr. Whitelock will share her pearls of wisdom from her time at UFCVM to get her ready. We wish her the best of luck on her journey into and throughout vet school! Go Gators!

We have enjoyed hosting Lexi Lipnicky during her four-week externship. Lexi is currently studying at the Lincoln Memorial University, College of Veterinary Medicine in her fourth year as a student doctor. She is originally from Pennsylvania, where she will return to practice as a mixed animal practitioner seeing dogs, cats, and exotic pets. Lexi enjoys arts and crafts, reading, and coloring in her free time. She is with us for 2 more weeks, so say hello if you see her!

It is skunk breeding season!

We recommend checking your yard for skunks before letting your dog out at night, keeping your dog on a leash for walks, and staying in well-lit areas away from dense vegetation.

If your dog gets sprayed, we recommend a bath immediately with Skunk-Off Shampoo, available for purchase in our hospital. Be sure to avoid the eyes and mouth during their bath!

Our Story

For nearly ten years, Bannon Woods Veterinary Hospital grew from the back of a truck, traveling the greater Louisville-area, predominantly treating equine patients. It was not long before Dr. Robertson began treating small animals at her horse calls, as owners placed their trust in her and wanted her to treat their entire furry family. Thus the dream was born to build a hospital where owners could bring any animal, large or small, for quality care from professionals they personally know and trust.

We broke ground in August of 2015 on Dr. Robertson’s family farm. The goal was to build a physical hospital location to expand our services and treat everyone’s beloved family members, large or small! In January of 2016, Bannon Woods Veterinary Hospital opened its physical doors at a temporary location in downtown Fairdale (now the Pet Spa.) The grand opening of our finished hospital was in June of 2016 and our entire community and client base was invited to come join the celebration!

Our goal is simple:

Our personal pets are exactly that - our family members. This inspires us to constantly improve our services by investing in the best technologies and educating ourselves of the latest advancements, so that we can offer the highest quality of medicine to you and your pets.
