I do understand that times are uncertain and money is tight. Too many dogs are coming in with their fur long and matted. They are uncomfortable, and fleas, ticks and sores often hide under the mats. Please think about how you would feel wearing a winter coat in this weather and be kind to your fur babies.

So far we have been lucky this year as there have been few fleas. When damp weather starts, please check your pets for a sudden burst of fleas. Also with this heat check to make sure their collars are not causing hot spots on their necks, I have been seeing a few sores.

As we are coming into fall, many of you might notice your babies getting itchy and chewing themselves. Hot spots may occur. I can bath them in oatmeal shampoo to help calm the itch and trim the fur away from the wound to help promote healing. Fall allergies can be miserable for dog and human! Achoo!!
