Tragedy strikes a local Winter Haven family. Many of you have expressed a desire to assist the Roberson family with expenses occurred from an automobile accident on June 24, 2021. Chase Roberson was a passenger in the car of one of his friends, when the friend’s car went out of control hitting a tree. The other two passengers were treated and released from a nearby hospital, however, 16-year-old Chase sustained a spinal cord injury leaving him with injuries that will impact his life forever. This fall Chase would have entered the 11th grade at Auburndale High School. He would have also continued his part-time employment at KFC/Auburndale. George Tinsley, Owner described him as one of the best teen workers he has had in a long time. He said he was polite and eager to work as many hours as he could to help his mom. Since his discharge from Brooks Rehab in Jacksonville, Chase is awaiting placement for Occupational and Physical Therapy at Winter Haven Hospital Outpatient Therapy 3 days a week to gain upper body strength and mobility. Chase’s mother supports Chase and his 10 yr old sister in a rented home that cannot accompany his disabilities and is currently looking for a home that will be more accommodating for his Hospital Bed, Electric Wheelchair, Hoy Lyft, and a Shower. Deedee, Chase’s mother, is a Dedicated Polk County Bus driver and is need of assistance that will help Chase adjust to his new lifestyle changes. What lies ahead for Chase is an expensive and painful journey of medical expenses beyond what the family can provide for him. A GoFundMe account has been set up to assist in providing some of the necessities Chase will need for his day to day living. We thank you in advance and ask if you are unable to assist monetarily you keep the family in prayer in the days ahead.

Just wanted to share some good information amidst some of the troubling news lately. Our Chili's Manager Brandy Brangers helped us coordinate a food donation to Elva's Kitchen Initiative in Louisville recently. They shared this feedback on the donation.

"The family most impacted by your donation : The mother of three children, Son age 4 Autistic/ Epileptic, Son age 14 Autistic/Epileptic, Daughter age 20 (caregiving for both brothers and her mother). The mother of these children was a service industry employee who was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and Grave's Disease right before the pandemic happened. She contacted us with no idea what to do or where to turn to, she is confined to her house because she is fatally at risk if she comes into contact with the COVID19 Virus. Thanks to your help we were able to provide 2 weeks of food security to this family!"

Elva's Kitchen is on Facebook as www.facebook.com/ElvasKitchenInitiative/

We want to give a huge thank you to Brandy and Tinsley Family Concessions at Louisville Airport for the continued donations and support that help us do our mission work here!
