Happy Black Cat Appreciation Day! 🐈‍⬛🖤 Black Cats are rising in popularity and getting the recognition they deserve.

That wasn't always the case, though. Dating back to ancient times, black cats have been considered harbingers of witchcraft and bad omens. Thousands of black cats were targeted solely because of their color. Fully black cats are rare to find to this day because so many were wiped out during medieval times. Until recently, black cats were often overlooked at shelters and left behind. Luckily, more people are willing to give sweet, void kitties a chance. Some people even consider their alleged connection to witchcraft as a positive.

Field Trips are awesome for everyone involved! 🐕‍🦺🌳 A Field Trip is a special form of volunteering, where you take a dog out of the shelter and spend the day with them. These are a great opportunity for dogs to relax and be themselves. This allows the community to meet available dogs while letting the dogs socialize outside of the shelter.

Be sure to tune in to our Pawfect Match Telethon on August 27 on WHAS11. We’ll be on the phone lines all day to make the MAS Dome the Enrichment Center of our dreams.

Give for Give Louisville is on September 18, and it’s the largest online giving day in the Kentuckiana Region.

We’re taking the dogs out to the ball game with the Louisville Bats on September 19, for night!

It's Time to Pick Up. ☎️ Your Pawfect Pal is Waiting! We are cohosting a telethon with Louisville Metro Animal Services to fundraise for the animals waiting for their furever homes at the shelter.

We'll be on the lines all day on August 27th looking to raise $30,000! The goal is transform the existing dome on MAS property into a dedicated dog enrichment area. This new space will provide shelter dogs with room to play, train, and decompress, helping to reduce stress and increase their chances to get adopted.
