We were disappointed that the Shively city council canceled their meeting on Monday due to the lack of quorum. Most Shively council members have not expressed support for the Community Food Park proposal, despite widespread support from Shively residents and across the Louisville community. The movement to promote fresh food access, cultivate intergenerational community, and activate open green space is gaining momentum and we remain committed to supporting it. Please plan to join us for the Shively city council meeting on September 19th at 6:15pm. The council has heard from us. Now, they need to hear from you.
Over the next month, we will be using the Shively Community Food Park page to share videos and photos, continuing to amplify resident voices in this movement. Here’s how you can help:
-Send us a 1-minute video sharing why the Shively Community Food Park matters to you.
-Send us a selfie with a sign stating, “I support the Shively Community Food Park!” and a note about why it matters to you.
For consistency, please adhere to the following guidelines for videos:
-Landscape orientation
-Quiet, bright location (without the sun behind you)
Keep it professional. Pretend you’re speaking at a council meeting. What do elected officials need to hear?
Videos, photos, and quotes can be emailed to Zac Jones-Gomez at [email protected] by September 11th and will be shared to the Shively Community Food Park page as they are received. Please follow the page and share the momentum!
Gratefully,
