Here’s all the p**p for this weekend from Time To Fly. We look forward to seeing everyone for a jam packed event at Mulberry Orchard 4/17-4/19. Oh, and if you happen to have extra time on Thursday, we’re meeting at 10AM for set up and we can use all the help we can get!
Ok folks, this one took a while!
Here is the schedule for our upcoming Kentucky Derby event with Louisville Kennel Club in Shelbyville, Kentucky at the end of this week. The weather looks like it's going to be different each day. Friday will be quite warm with high temps in the mid 80's. Saturday won't be quite as hot, but we have a chance of thunderstorms. That may prove to be a challenge with a full schedule, but we will do our best to manage. Sunday will be quite a bit cooler, with temps in the low 50s, so it looks like we just need to pack for anything and be prepared. Bring shade for your vehicle if you have it, fans, cool coats, sunscreen, etc, maybe some rain gear for Saturday and toss in a jacket for Sunday. 😉
Please note that we do run in the rain, but will break for heavy down pours and we have a mandatory pause of 30 minutes for storms with thunder/lightning. If we have delays, we will do our best to put a weather alert/notice asap, but in some cases this is quite difficult to manage while we are trying to protect equipment, people & dogs. Stay tuned to our group throughout the event for important information, including weather alerts.
Advance entries are now closed, but we will be accepting Late Entries on-line anytime between now and Sunday (April 19) @ 1:00 pm or until limits are reached. Skip the paperwork and just bring your phone to check in to confirm details. https://pci.jotform.com/form/260967884305166
⚠️ Remember... no dogs at check in! ⚠️
This is going to be a very busy event, so please check in as soon as your Fast CAT block opens at the top of the hour. If you are more than 15 minutes late checking in, you will lose priority and may have to run at the end of the next time block or be moved to the block times reserved for Late Entries in the afternoon.
We always do our best to be as efficient as possible, but for an event this large, please be aware that there may be lines, particularly during the afternoon after Late Entries open. We do give priority to Advance Entries, and once we open up the Late Entries, we will divide the lines but you may have a person as a placeholder to wait in line to avoid stressing/overheating dogs.
*Please make sure the card stays with the person waiting until it's collected by our paddock team*
You only have to go through check in once...even if you have multiple dogs. After check in, get your dog(s) and go directly to Inspection. After inspection, you will be given your first boarding passes back and Inspection will retain the 2nd cards. After your first run, go back through Inspection and pick up your 2nd cards, then get in line again so both Fast CAT runs can be completed within your selected time block.
In order for us to work at peak efficiency Catchers need to be at the catch pen BEFORE dogs get to the start gate. If the catcher for a dog is not at the catch pen when the dog is ready to load, we will move to the next dog. We need quick entrances and exits at both ends of the track so we can keep lines to a minimum and reduce stress for all involved
If you have CABT runs, that field operates on a rolling roll-call, so you can do those runs when you choose during normal test hours (see schedule below). Please note, there is no running order on the CAT field. You may use a person as a placeholder if needed to wait in line to avoid stressing/overheating dogs. The card needs to stay with the person waiting until collected by our team.
We will have Personal Best ribbons and stickers for First Official Runs, so let the folks in the catch pen (or start area) know if you earn one and we will have those ready for you at the timing tent. Also, all Fun Runs and Bunny Hops get participation ribbons, so don't forget them! All title ribbons will be available at the Ribbon/Timing tent. Swing by and let us know when you earn a title, and don't forget to add your dogs' name, title, PB, etc on our TTF Banner!
The details and complete schedule for the event is below.
I also do a daily post each evening with results and a schedule for the following day. In some cases the schedule you see here may change based on weather or other factors, so please make sure you check in the evenings for updates.
Please follow signage or directions when pulling in to park. We try to keep the upper entrance closest to the Fast CAT track closed as we will have dogs and people walking/crossing back and forth, so please go past the first entrance and pull into the second entrance to park.
Portable toilets will be between the Fast CAT track and CAT field.
