Yet again, a kitten has been left at our clinic doorstep. This is the 4th year that this has happened right about the same time frame, and they’re always white. While we are grateful this little one wasn’t left in the middle of a field, leaving an animal outside—especially unattended—is not an acceptable way to find it help. It puts the animal at risk and leaves our staff responsible for an emergency situation we did not agree to take on especially going into the weekend.

We will always do what we can for an animal in need, but that does not mean our clinic is an animal drop-off location.

⛈️ Are these storms stressing your pet? 🐾

With all the continuous storms these past few days, we’ve received numerous calls from owners asking for advise on how to keep their furry friend calm and stress free.

We recommend to try ThunderEase® for dogs or FELIWAY® for cats to help create a calmer, more comfortable environment during stressful times, as well as other calming medications as well!

🚫 Please DO NOT reach for human medications! Many medications that are safe for us can be dangerous—even toxic—to our pets.

We are still searching for the potential owner of a female cat who was found near Landoll’s Castle last week by a kind hearted person who couldn’t bare to see her suffer on the side of the road. If she has an owner, we need to find them so they can have closure. Her picture is in the comments of her fur markings but not of her complete face. We are trying to locate the owner of a dog that unfortunately was found deceased on State Route 39 right before Nashville near the Camp Toodik road. Not microchipped, but wearing a pink collar.

Out of respect for the dog and her family, we will post a picture of the collar in the comments. Our hope is to simply reunite this beloved companion with her family so they can have closure.

Dr. Buergel got to perform a Tube Cystotomy on this handsome buck and he’s doing great!

Urinary blockage in male goats (bucks and wethers) is a true emergency and unfortunately, something we see more often than many people realize.
When a goat becomes “blocked,” it means urinary stones (uroliths) are preventing them from passing urine. This leads to a painful buildup of pressure in the bladder and can quickly become life-threatening if not treated.
One of the procedures we may recommend in certain cases is a tube cystotomy.
This involves placing a temporary tube directly into the bladder to allow urine to bypass the blockage. Over time, this gives the urethra a chance to rest, inflammation to decrease, and in some cases, allows stones to pass or dissolve with medical management.
Why is this important?
• Relieves pressure on the bladder
• Helps prevent bladder rupture
• Provides time for healing and treatment
• Can improve long-term outcomes in select cases

Early intervention is critical! Fortunately for this buck, his owners acted fast and called for help! It was an all-nighter for Dr. Buergel and her technician, Brooke, but worth it!
