🌾 It’s been a week of foxtail removals! 🌾
Take some time this weekend to thoroughly inspect your yard and check your pets for foxtails. These seemingly harmless grass seed heads can cause serious problems when they become lodged in a pet’s skin, ears, eyes, nose, paws, or even migrate deeper into the body.
⚠️ Foxtails can cause:
• Painful skin abscesses and infections
• Swelling, redness, and drainage tracts
• Excessive licking or chewing of paws
• Head shaking and ear infections
• Sneezing, nasal discharge, or difficulty breathing if inhaled
• Eye irritation, squinting, and potential damage to the eye
🐾 After walks, hikes, or outdoor playtime, be sure to check between your pet’s toes, around the ears, under the collar, and through their coat.
If your pet is suddenly shaking their head, licking a paw excessively, sneezing repeatedly, or seems uncomfortable, give us a call. Early removal can help prevent a much bigger problem!
A few minutes of checking today can save your pet a lot of discomfort tomorrow. 🐾❤️🐾
