Friends of JACK Primate Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) US nonprofit organization which raises awareness to the plight of primates and other endemic wildlife affected by the illegal wildlife trade in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As the official US partner to JACK Primate Sanctuary in the DRC, we provide funding to help rescue primates and other wildlife from the illegal wildlife trade and fund p

rojects to support the care and welfare of rescued animals at the sanctuary. We also support efforts to combat the bushmeat trade and illegal wildlife trafficking in the country.

Find out who you are and do it on purpose 🎀

Mama Angeline is a staple at JACK Primate Sanctuary With a degree in biology, Angeline has always had a passion for wildlife and it shows in her dedication to the rescues at JACK.

From the moment she began working in 2006 until now, twenty years later, Mama Angeline has poured her heart into our important conservation work.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has found conservation to be a part of who they are 💚

It is our job to share with you the stories of each rescue at JACK Primate Sanctuary. But what happens when we don’t know the whole story?

Ngani and Kisa mysteriously arrived at a local zoo in the DRC. No seizure documents, no background information, no clue as to where they came from. Their history and the trauma they endured as trafficked chimpanzees had been completely erased.

Luckily, they were transferred to JACK Primate Sanctuary where they will receive the love, care, and respect that they deserve. And where their story will never be silenced again.

⚕️Vet care doesn’t end with an intake examination. In fact, it is only the beginning!

🩹Health checks, routine surgeries, and ongoing care are all a part of the never-ending to-do list for our vet team. It doesn’t leave much room in the budget for emergencies.

👉This is why we need to raise $1,200 to cover the cost of surgery for Togo!

Togo is a L’Hoest monkey who suffered a double fracture in his tibia after a tree branch collapsed underneath him. Being a monkey, he simply cannot survive without the proper use of his legs.

💚If you would like to help cover the cost of Togo’s surgery please visit the donation link in our bio.

**Chimpanzees and monkeys should not be kept as pets or influenced to share close proximity with humans. The primates at JACK Primate Sanctuary have all been affected by the illegal wildlife trade and are now part of a program aimed at rescuing and rehabilitating them. The individuals in the photo or video are experienced professionals affiliated with either JACK Primate Sanctuary or their conservation partners.**

It’s Mangabey Awareness Day! 🐒

Mangabeys are some of the most rare and endangered monkeys on earth. They exist only in Africa, with the Golden-bellied Mangabey being endemic to the DRC. They are Old World monkeys who often fall victim to hunting and habitat loss.

There are 9 different species of Mangabeys and JACK Primate Sanctuary is currently home to 4 of them!

🧡 9 Golden-Bellied Mangabeys (Endangered)
🖤 13 Black Crested Mangabeys (Vulnerable)
🩶 2 Gray-cheeked Mangabeys (Vulnerable)
🤎 6 Agile Mangabeys

JACK Primate Sanctuary is responsible for rehabilitating the largest group of Golden-Bellied Mangabeys. They, alongside their partners, worked diligently to get Golden-Bellied Mangabeys registered in CITES Annex I, which allows more protection for these special, endangered monkeys.
