Summary
-Attends to and cares for animals such as cats and finches and in facilities such as kennels, hospitals, and laboratories by performing the following duties.
-Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
-Feeds and waters animals according to schedules.
-Cleans and disinfects cages, condos and sterilizes condos, linens and soiled litter boxes upon check out or when necessary.
-Examines animals for signs of illness and reports findings according to instructions, or immediate supervisor.
-Transfers animals between quarters.
-Adjusts controls to regulate temperature and humidity of animals' quarters.
-Records information according to instructions such as demeanor, diet, weight,
medications, food intake, and litter box activity.
-Shaves, bathes, clips, and grooms animals.
-Repairs condos, perch sleeves, or decor.

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
