🌈One of the hardest parts of being a pet sitter is the day you never want to have: losing one of the pets. Whiskey was my first client when I moved from Downtown Los Angeles to the Westside. We had a lot of easy, long walks together, days cuddling on the couch and more. I had to say goodbye when I left Los Angeles to move to Washington but always had the hope that I could become his sitter again if I moved back.

When you’re a sitter, you become attached to so many animals as you spend years caring for them like your own. But that comes with a lot of heart break. Losing a client never gets easier but some just hit much harder in the end when you have those special bonds. Whiskey, you didn’t deserve this but the world can be so cruel when it makes pets sick. Thank you for the joy you brought me and so many people.

In the words of Bob Barker, “Pets are not just animals, they are gifts to us that bring love and joy to our lives.” ♥️♥️♥️

Something no one tells you about this job before you start it is the heartbreak of your clients passing away. I just learned my sweet Louie passed away from health complications. He and his brother Patrick were a couple of my first clients when I moved to the westside almost 2 years ago and I’ve watched them numerous times since.

Feline immunovirus or FIV is a retrovirus i infection in cats which is often compared to human HIV or aids due to the similar effects on the body. The virus works by killing or damaging cells in a cat's immune system, often targeting white blood cells. The ongoing damage of FIV in cats eventually leads to a weakening of the immune system. Once that happens, cats with FIV can become vulnerable to secondary infections.

I’m taking care of a couple FIV+ cats at the moment and everyone who watches FIV+ should be aware of the disease, how it’s spread and how to prevent transmitting it to other cats.

Canelo is my little wobbly cat. He has cerebral hypoplasia and according to PetMD “Cerebellar hypoplasia is a condition where a kitten’s brain does not finish growing and remains in an immature state due to a viral infection in the mother cat. The infection causes a pause in the unborn kitten’s brain development, specifically to the area called the cerebellum, which is responsible for coordinated movement and balance.”

Canelo is an extremely happy cat who loves when I visit and loves his snuggles!

Harley and her foster sister, Addie are my new friends for the next few days!

For current and potential new clients, please note that at this time I’m only able to take bookings of any kind that include 15 minutes max of walking due to some health issues I’m dealing with. I’m not sure if or when I’ll be able to do longer walks at this time.

I’m the kind of sitter where if you’re a repeat client who asks for a booking when I have plans already, I’ll work with you to find a time that works for both of us since I truly want to help. Cannoli is an example! Im wearing a dress during this since I had plans already so the client was fine with an earlier scheduled drop in. They even let me bring my mom along who was with me (and cannoli was obsessed with her) so I was able to snag this picture. I’ve never been able to get a real candid photo with one of my dogs before during a drop in!
