Helpful Wildfire Terminology
🔥 Wildfire - An uncontrolled fire burning the different types of vegetation that cover the land. A wildfire is considered a “major wildfire” after it exceeds 100 acres in size.
🔥 Containment - When reporting on a wildfire a percentage of containment will be given, which will state how much of the fireline has been completed.
🔥 Backfire - A fire intentionally set along the interior edge of a fireline by Forest Fire Service staff to consume fuel in the path of a wildfire and/or to change the direction of force of a fire’s convection column.
🔥 Fireline - The part of a containment or control line that is scraped or dug to mineral soil.
🔥 Threatened - Critical infrastructure, roads, homes and commercial buildings that are in the vicinity of a wildfire.

🔥‼️Public safety officials are evacuating the Indigo Bay, Summerlyn, and Farm neighborhoods in Carolina Forest due to an ongoing wildfire that poses a threat to nearby structures.

At around 3 a.m. on Sunday, an evacuation order was issued for Arrow Wood Court, Indianola Court, and Tuckahoe Road in the Walkers Woods neighborhood.

By 4:45 a.m., evacuations were also ordered for Covington Drive, from Summerhill Drive to the community center in the Covington Lakes neighborhood.

At 6 a.m., evacuations took place for Blackberry Lane at the intersections of Spring Lake Drive, including Pennyroyal Court, Alyssum Court, and Bluebonnet Court, as well as Harvest Drive from Moonbeam Court to Tidelands Court in the Spring Lake community.

Evacuees can find shelter at the Carolina Forest Recreation Center located at 2254 Carolina Forest Blvd., Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.

Everyone else is urged to stay away from the area to keep the roads clear for first responders.

When an evacuation order is issued, public safety personnel will go door-to-door in the neighborhoods and use PA systems to communicate the message.

Additionally, Horry County 911 sends out a Code Red emergency alert to registered residents in the affected areas. A screenshot of such a Code Red alert is provided below. Myrtle Beach, SC

‼️Myrtle Beach Evacuation Info‼️🔥Evacuees who need a place to go can head to the Carolina Forest Recreation Center at 2254 Carolina Forest Boulevard. The shelter will be in place overnight with cots, food, and more to serve those who are displaced.

VCA Palmetto Animal Hospital is open for anyone needing to board their pets. To board your pet with the hospital, call 843-903-1900.

Home of the Hand Car Wash is offering space for those who may need to park their cars during the evacuations. Reach out to Dean directly at 845-801-3882.

Vacation Myrtle Beach, a local hotel group, is offering discounted stays to residents displaced by the fires in Carolina Forest March 1 through March 6.

The Carolina Forest wildfire near Myrtle Beach
is not contained. It’s dangerously close to subdivisions in Carolina Forest. I’ve seen reports that some people had to evacuate

WOW!! LOS ANGELES!! This is crazy to think that Los Angeles was burning with one of the worst wildfires in US History a little over a month ago, and this evening they are facing a WARNING for Tornadoes & 70MPH Winds!
