Nate dropped off a brand new grain and this is my first try baking with it. I accidentally let it ferment for two days because, well, life. This grain is 17.6% protein and grown in the Honey Lake Basin in Northern California. I have a few small bags available now and plan to get as much as he'll let me buy!!!

2nd PLACE ribbon!! Woohoo! Congrats Roy for getting 2nd place in the Los Angeles county fair in the sourdough category. Roy took my 100% fresh milled sourdough bread class practiced it once and then entered the second loaf in the fair and won this ribbon! So proud of you Roy!!!!!

Hope you’re having a fantastic summer. We’re getting ready for the new school year which means: I’ve started adding fall classes. I just added three more sessions of my sourdough bread class on the following dates:

When you toast Nate's great northern rye, it smells like chocolate chip cookies. At 86% hydration I think i would increase next time around. I think toasting dries the grains out a bit.
