Hello all. Are there any cartoonists on this page who are passionate about cats?

I am a local (Atwater Village) cat behaviorist and I am teaming up with the other cat behaviorist in town (on the west side) on an internet based educational show about cats and behavior.

We would love to have a cartoon intro "origin story" created, and already know we cannot afford the high rates that someone with your skill set most definitely deserves for your time and labor.

We are hoping to find someone willing to offer a highly discounted rate in exchange for being a part of something you find fun and rewarding. (Educating the public about cats and saving cats!)

Additionally, if we are extremely lucky and things pan out in the future, we would obviously retroactively compensate you at your full rate for any work you've contributed.

There’s something magical about the way art can make us see animals a little differently.

I recently stopped by Off the Menu, an exhibit by Gary Baseman at the iconic LA’s Johnie’s Coffee Shop, and was reminded how often cats find their way into great storytelling. Throughout Gary’s work, his beloved late cat, Blackie appears not just as a pet, but as a muse and an inspirational character in his works. He also depicts his late & great cat, Bosco, and his current kitties, Beverly & Fairfax as a reminder that the animals we share our lives with leave an incredible imprint on us.

As a certified feline behavior specialist, I spend my days helping people understand what their cats are trying to communicate. Every behavior has a story. Every cat has a unique personality, emotional life, and way of interacting with the world. While my canvas is behavior and Gary’s is pencil & paint, I couldn’t help but appreciate how we’re both, in our own ways, encouraging people to see cats as the fascinating, complex beings they are.

One of my favorite parts of the afternoon was chatting with Gary about something we’re both passionate about: cat rescue. It’s always refreshing to meet creative people who use their platform to celebrate and advocate for cats, especially those who don’t always get the attention they deserve, black cats!

If you haven’t already heard of Gary Baseman and you’re a cat lover, an art lover, or simply someone who appreciates a little pop nostalgia with a side of whimsical surrealism, his art is well worth checking out!

Because whether it’s through behavior... or through art... cats have a remarkable way of telling us who they are, if we’re willing to pay attention. 🖤🐈‍⬛

🐈‍⬛ FixNation is now prioritizing targeted trapping – identifying the areas in greatest need and strategically focusing our efforts there.

🐈 We’re very excited to announce a new collaboration with Helen Sanders CatPAWS and TippedEars that aims to make a long-term impact on community cats in Compton.

Cats are having a major economic impact in Japan 😺

A new report estimates that cats will generate nearly $19 billion in economic activity in Japan this year through spending on pet care, cat-themed tourism, cafes, books, merchandise, and other cat-related businesses. The phenomenon has even earned a nickname: “catnomics.”

Cats have been Japan’s most popular pet for a decade, with an estimated 8.8 million living in households across the country. Their influence can be seen everywhere from tourism destinations and temples to literature, souvenirs, and local businesses.
