Deity Animal Rescue and Foundation

Deity Animal Rescue and Foundation Deity Animal Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit rescue organization based in Los Angeles. Dogs saved her so it’s only right that she save dogs.

It is our passion and mission to rescue, rehabilitate and place stray, neglected and shelter dogs into loving, responsible and committed homes. When bringing dogs into Deity we do not discriminate on age, breed or ease of placement. Rather, we choose dogs based on temperament and potential to be wonderful companions. We adhere to a comprehensive adoption process which includes finding the best pos

sible match for each dog and performing home checks. Our mission is to educate and empower people of all ages as to how they can make a difference in the lives of animals in their communities. We target the importance of pet sterilization, animal welfare, and why it is a good idea to adopt from a shelter or rescue rather than buy from a breeder.

Ellen rescued Vida, the first official Deity dog, in 2007. Lindsay joined Ellen in her efforts when a major health scare made her reevaluate life and the gift of health and happiness. Dogs served a key roll in her recovery and she strives to share the healing power of dogs with others.

🚨 URGENT! 16-YEAR-OLD, 7 LB CHIHUAHUA NEEDS A MIRACLE BY 8/9 – ELIGIBLE FOR GOOD SAM NOW! 🚨

Meet VALERIO ( ): a 7.7 lb, 16-year-old grandpa who was brought to the shelter as a “stray” on 8/3. 😢

During his medical exam, staff discovered he has several health issues that the shelter simply can’t treat. Because of this, Valerio has been placed on ORANGE MEDICAL ALERT and MUST be adopted or rescued by 4 pm on 8/9 (adoptions must be approved by medical staff).

🔶Here are Valerio’s medical notes:

• Estimated 16-year-old intact male chihuahua with significant age-related issues
• Heart murmur (Grade V/VI)
• Severe dental disease (heavy tartar, missing teeth)
• Tense abdomen (possible pain or other condition)
• Kyphosis (possible chronic pain or orthopedic issue)
• Current plan: Continue rimadyl and amox/clav for 3 more days, monitor daily, and OK to give Gabapentin as needed.

The good news: Valerio is eligible for early rescue under the GOOD SAM program!

As you can see from our videos, this little soul is so confused and doesn’t understand why he’s here. We’re hoping someone can step up and give Valerio the quiet, loving home he desperately needs. 🙏

It’s with so much JOY that I share… it’s been a year since Edie joined us. Initially she went to live with foster mama before being adopted - then sadly returned when her human became ill. At this one year Rescue-aversary Kat thought it a good idea to get our little girl’s perspective on where she wants to call her Forever home. So she enlisted animal communicator extraordinaire .me.mr.sol . And sure enough, our girl had a lot to say:

1. She showed Sol (the animal communicator) that her original former owner was an older single man who took her everywhere with him, until it got to be too much for him. We knew she was dropped off by an older man, so… wow! She misses him but knows she was getting too hard for him to take care of. She also knew how sick she was when he left her at the shelter, and she was so sad about that and so wanted to get better for him.

2. Her name is Joy and she wants to be called Joy. Edie is an okay nickname but she likes Joy. Which is what her paperwork said, but we thought the shelter named her that! She told Sol her name is a “happy name” and Kat said, “Joy?” and she started shouting “Joy Joy Joy” at Sol. Then I said, “You can be Joy! I’m sorry I didn’t know.” And she immediately went over to Sol’s lap, looked up at her, and Sol said, “She’s telling me thank you. That’s what she needed you to know most.”

3. She knows Kat helped her get healthier, and she also knows she’s slowing down. She doesn’t want to move from house to house anymore. She told Sol she had “lots of stops” after being left at the shelter (she had been adopted out and returned due to her human becoming ill). So, Joy would like to stay here. No more moving around. Kat looked at her and said “It’s fine with me if it is okay with your rescue mamas”. Duh! And 🥹.

7. She told Sol, “Stop wondering if I’m dying. I’m just slowing down.” Ugh.

Out of space here… the conversation is continued in comments! ⬇️

Sharing for her mama :

My dog escaped our dog walker this morning 7/27 9am at 4341 Griffith Drive. She was last spotted by a tunnel near the LA river slightly up the trail where the pony trail ride goes.

I’m sick to my stomach. This girl is my world. Call me if you spot her. Do not approach or chase. She’s fearful of people.

Please share far and wide.

She’s one of them. One of those absolutely perfect dogs who you find yourself just staring at wondering, if she’s even real. But she is. And her foster mama could not gush any more about how lovely this fluffy lady is. Her name is Cissy. She’s a granny we pulled from the a couple of weeks ago. We don’t know why she ended up there, but we are so happy that we had the opportunity to rescue her. She’s such a special girl. Made even more special by those beautiful eyes. You see, Cissy cannot see. But she still gets around just fine. It took her no time at all to learn the lay of the land at her foster home . And furthermore, she’s dog friendly and potty trained. A perfect Queen with the kindest heart. We aren’t sure why her former family let her go. But boy, we’re sure glad she’s here. Safe, loved, happy, clean and so filled with gratitude. We cannot wait to find her the most perfect home. One that will love her up for a gazillion lifetimes and never ever let her go.

Please drop a ♥️ for our girl. Your comments and interactions will push her in front of that Instagram algorithm and into the line of site of her future True Love. You guys hold the 🔑.

Cissy is a seven-year-old Cocker Spaniel mix. Absolute divinity. Adoption application in bio.

Sometimes Oswald finds himself thinking about how blessed he was on that fateful day when he was rescued from the middle of a busy road. He trusted his instincts on that one - when the car door swung open and the good human inside offered him a safe haven from uncertain death - he made the absolute right choice. And now, and every day since then, he’s made it a point to show is rescuer - turned foster mama - just how grateful he is. Every day, he makes good boy choices. Loving choices. Team player choices. Oswald has chosen happiness. And we are so happy he’s a part of the pack. Now all that remains is finding him the Forever Home fit for this Goodest Boy. Oswald is 1.5 years old, loves people, and likes other dogs with a proper introduction (as most dogs do). He’s well-mannered, shows up for any and all cuddle sessions and definitely knows his way around destuffing any toy. But hey, that’s happiness! He’s truly an angel boy and is so ready to know that he’s found a home.

Guys. We need you. He needs you. Please drop a ♥️ to show your love and support. By doing so you will be helping to get him seen over an oppressive algorithm situation and noticed by his future family. Please please.

To his foster family, THANK YOU ♥️

She’s an itty bitty way-too-skinny grannie who found her way into an extremely overcrowded LA City shelter. She had an owner once. An owner who never came for her. When the volunteer reached out to us, the plea came through with an unspoken urgency. “She’s a super sweet 5 lb., 12 yr. old Chihuahua in case you can help 🙏”. Translation: “Our shelter is so devastatingly overcrowded and she’s so sweet, so emaciated. She shouldn’t be here any longer than she has to be. We really want to get her somewhere safe”.

So we put her in stories. Hoping. Praying. Manifesting a foster. And lo and behold - our angel popped into our DM’s with a “What time can I pick her up?” 👏💕💥

Guys, she needs our help. She needs those yucky senior chihuahua teeth to be cleaned before they start wreaking serious havoc on her five pound body. Reaching out for even $5 to help us make that surgery happen.

Thank you Kat! Thank you 💘

It’s with a shattered heart that I write. Deity has lost one of our most precious, one of our very own personal dogs. When Foster Director first laid eyes on the tiny grandma locked away in the medical room of the Lancaster shelter, she knew. Hannah knew the girl she eventually named Josephine was coming home to be her baby, her child, her best friend. Slide to see that very moment.

For the past three years Hannah has loved Jojo up enough for multiple lifetimes. We have been blessed with watching it all unfold. So much sass in that little potato puff body. The prancing, the dancing, her happiness and joy. The sisterhood she had with Margo and Penny .lane . The outfits. And the tongue that never, ever stayed inside.

Devastated. Broken. Blessed to have known her.

Wrapping our arms around Hannah today. If only we could make it not so. If only we could take away the pain. But there’s nothing quite like a mother’s grief. Taking a moment of silence for Jojo. Then sending Hannah all of our love and strength.

Fly high sweet Josephine Sinclaire. Thinking those tiny wings are zipping you around the Milky Way in beautiful style. Say hi to Molly, Oliver, Layla, Jude, Big Girl and all of our other babies who have flown before you. Twinkle your star when you get there. And please know that you are the very center of our hearts and always will be. 🕊️💕✨

He was seen running down a busy road in imminent danger. When given the opportunity to jump into his now foster mama’s car - this smart, trusting boy did not hesitate. He immediately jumped in, looked his rescuer in the eyes and immediately curled into a ball and exhaled. In gratitude. He knew he was safe.

Now these gentle, relaxed, happy snores - as well as a bunch of other reasons (swipe to see) - are why Ozzie has stolen our hearts.

Oswald is 1.5 years old and lives with two canine siblings and a toddler foster brother. He’s the first one to pile onto a cuddle puddle and the last to wake up in the morning. He’s house trained, walks well on a leash, listens well to commands and respects personal space… well, kinda 🤣.

Guys, please drop a ♥️ for our boy. Let’s get him SEEN and ADOPTED. We know there’s a Pawfect family out there who is so ready to bring this precious lovebug into their world. Link to adoption application in our bio.

And to , , and - thank you for fostering and loving this once down-on-his-luck boy. We love to see him thrive.🙏

Wanted to update you on Baby. It’s been a rollercoaster couple of weeks since we initially posted him. To recap, Baby and his owner are unhoused and living in Woodland Hills. Something happened to Baby’s hind end causing him to not want to walk and giving him lots of pain. Our friend / his fairy dog mama reached out to us for help in order to get him seen by a vet - and you guys helped us to do that. At the time, the vet only saw “soft tissue damage” on the X-rays and sent him home for “bed rest, calm and relaxation only”. They also prescribed pain meds to be given daily. All with the hopes his body could heal on its own. Unfortunately this hasn’t happened. Unfortunately Baby seems to be in even more pain. We reached out to our orthopedic vet who agreed to see and treat Baby. It has been determined that along with arthritis in Baby’s spine, his knee is giving him lots of pain and is fixable with surgery. You guys, we wanna fix it. We need to fix it. This boy cannot live like this and will continue to deteriorate. And he’s still young.

Humbly reaching out. Again. If you can spare anything, even $5 towards this sweet guy who has already seen and been through so much, we would be so grateful.

Baby’s owner has agreed to give our friend custody so that he can have the surgery - and heal there with her - indefinitely. He only wants the best for his dog.

Putting the estimate for surgery in stories. Will keep you updated.

Her name is Juna. She is one of the most exquisite red huskies we have ever had the honor of knowing. She possesses the wisdom of a thousand lifetimes and the magic of her wolf ancestors. She absolutely loves everyone she meets and especially other dogs. She’s the popular girl at the party and always brings her sweetest demeanor. She thrives in a home, as a part of a family, cherishes a cuddle and appreciates knowing structure and boundaries.

Juna became a part of our pack yesterday. Unfortunately her senior owner has become unstable on her feet and fears that she can no longer give this girl the essentials that she needs. No problem. Juna’s new home is out there. And we are gonna find it for her.

You guys, this is where you come in. Please drop a 💕 or ✨ for our magical girl. It is your comments and interactions that will get her seen over this oppressive algorithm and in front of her future fam. You are her lucky stars.
