For rabbits and small pets like guinea pigs and hamsters, temperatures above 80 degrees can potentially be life-threatening. Make sure your furry friends have access to plenty of fresh water in a bottle or bowl! For more pet safety tips, go to https://www.laanimalservices.com/hot-weather-tips.

šŸ†˜ Meet Chowder
He’s a six-year-old neutered male indoor cat at South LA Animal Shelter.

The person who surrendered Chowder to the shelter only had him for one week. They surrendered him due to allergies. The surrender notes also says he bit someone.
The notes describe him as fearful and aggressive, and they say he’s lived with other animals. We don’t have more information about his life before that one-week stay—only that he came from a family member.

Chowder has been at the shelter three days. After two days, he was placed on the Urgent list, meaning he will be next to be put on the euthanasia list.

In this video, you can see how scared he is—growling and swatting.

Chowder can still be adopted if you sign a waiver, but once he’s on the euthanasia list, he’ll be rescue-only.

If you’re patient, experienced with fearful cats, and willing to give him a chance, please consider adopting Chowder.

He needs a real chance now—because he may not have much time left at the shelter. But someone out there may be his person. Chowder’s life matters ā¤ļø

SHARKY — 10 years old, 12 Ibs, and he looks like a Fraggle who wandered off set.

He came in as a stray and sat on a possible-owner hold. Nobody came. That hold ends tomorrow.

Today he's sick with an upper respiratory infection
— wouldn't eat, wouldn't take his meds. URIs don't get better here.

He needs out for real vet care.

šŸšØšŸ†˜ZERO INTEREST šŸ’” LESS THAN 24 HRS TO LIVE! MATT DIES TOMORROW, WED 7/29šŸ†˜šŸšØ

This is our friend, Matt. Hard not to notice this handsome boy as he stands at the front of his kennel, wagging his tail and people watching with his two different colored eyes (one brown and one blue).

He arrived at the shelter on the 4th of July. Now he's in danger of losing his lifešŸ’”

We had a feeling Matt was going to be
in trouble following his playgroup assessment, so we made a point to meet him one on one. We found Matt to be a very SWEET boy.

He spent most of his yard time cuddling up and getting all of the pets! He also happily showed off his sit for treats and played with a few toys that we tossed his way. Sadly, Matt caught an upper respiratory infection shortly into his stay, so he hasn't had much yard time outside of that.

Matt only went into playgroup twice before getting sick. His very first playgroup outing, he was mounting other dogs (he's not neutered) and was hard to steer with correction tools. When playgroup staff tried to use the sq**rt bottle and shake can to stop him from mounting, he protested the correction by trying to grab the shake can while lunging toward the handler (he didn't make contact). He continued to protest the shake can during the session. His second session, he did a lot better though! They said he had no issues and "did great."

Matt now dies on WEDNESDAY 7/29 anytime after 8AM due to his very first playgroup outing and for a single negative kennel behavior note from a staff member during cleaning. He was also made RESCUE ONLY.

Matt needs a responsible human who can help him work on how he copes in moments of high arousal/stress.

Hoping there's someone who wants to give him that second chance at life and set him up for success upon leaving the shelter.

He's a GOOD BOY. Please help Matt! He's waiting at South LA Shelter.

šŸ†˜ Parajo
—only 8 months old. He’s on the Urgent list and next to be put on the euthanasia list due to overcapacity at South LA Animal Shelter.
Parajo was owner surrendered because of landlord—no fault of his own. He’s shy at first, but he’s a sweet boy who deserves a chance. He is not yet neutered, but he will be neutered before he goes to his forever home.
Please share him so he can get seen and find his forever home ā¤ļø Repost
