Thirty four years ago this summer, I had a dog and was invited to a wedding out of state. Like so many pet owners, I wondered what I was going to do with my dog while I was away. I was lucky to have a wonderful neighbor back then who cared for her while I was gone and even installed a doggy door in our shared fence so my pup could come and go between our yards. As I sat on the plane headed to the wedding, I found myself thinking, 'What do people do if they don't have a neighbor like mine?' Back then, kennels were really the only option. Somewhere during that flight, an idea was born: why not care for pets in the comfort of their own homes, where they're happiest? When I got home, I found a company to help me get started, had 10,000 flyers printed, and walked neighborhoods delivering them door-to-door. That's how Professional Pet Care Services was born. I like to joke that I may have invented pet sitting... but who knows, maybe I did! I had never heard of anyone doing it when the idea came to me on that flight. In fact, it wasn't until about five years later that I even heard of other pet sitters. Thirty-four years later, and I still love what I do. It's never just been about feeding pets or taking dogs for walks. It's about loving and caring for your pets as if they were my own and giving my clients peace of mind while they're away, and looking after their homes with the same care I do my own. One of the greatest gifts this business has given me is the friendships I've made with so many of my clients over the years. Thank you for trusting me with your beloved pets and welcoming me into your homes. It has truly been an honor to care for so many amazing animals and to get to know the wonderful people who love them. Here's to 34 incredible years, and many more years of doing what I truly love.
