It’s our VP’s 40th birthday!!!! Happiest of birthdays to Liesl Jackson, who has worked tirelessly with us since 2021 to make this Rescue into the safest, kindest, and most loving place possible for our dogs 💜 we hired liesl during COVID to “help pick up p**p,” and none of us realized at the time that it was fate that brought us together. Picking up p**p quickly became bathing puppies, walking dogs, doing adoption calls, posting dog profiles, emergency vet appointments, helping dogs cross the rainbow bridge, coordinating with fosters, guiding our staff, and making sure that this ship has everything it needs to glide seamlessly through turbulence waters 🌊🛳️
Liesl has used her kindness, enthusiasm, and extensive doggy knowledge to help us become the absolute best rescue we can be 💜

And what does Liesl want for her birthday? She wants everyone to donate $40 to celebrate her big FOUR ZERO! Yes, she ACTUALLY asked for that - I said “you don’t want people to think you’re turning 30 again?” But she is a giver, and wants everyone to celebrate with her by giving back to her life’s work 🐶🎂🎊

Please help us rescue the two SWEETEST pitties from a very high kill shelter, and transport them to a FUREVER HOME in Oregon!

You may remember Hope and Harmony - we posted them a few weeks ago. Our team member saw them at the Bakersfield shelter, and the staff begged her to try and get them out. We knew it would be a miracle to find a home for two bonded adult pitbulls, but wanted to try. So we posted them… then a message came in. A couple in Oregon saw their video and couldn’t stop thinking about them. They have a very friendly male pibble, and wanted to know if they could adopt these beautiful ladies in Oregon. We couldn’t believe it!

We found a wonderful and trusted transporter who can bring the girls to Northern CA (about halfway to their new home) where the adopters can meet them. We’re hoping you can help us raise $800 to cover the transportation of these sweet dogs 💜

🚨 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THIS FRIDAY! 🚨

There is an incredible opportunity to help 17 dogs from the very overcrowded Bakersfield shelter begin their journey to a new life in Delaware. But they need your help to make it happen!

This Friday, our friend Josh at the Bakersfield Shelter is looking for volunteers who can transport crated dogs from Bakersfield to Van Nuys Airport, arriving around 8:00 PM for their flight. The dogs do not need escorts on the flight, and volunteers are NOT required to stay at the airport after drop-off (though you’re welcome to help if you’d like).

If you can spare a few hours to give these dogs a chance at the future they deserve, please reach out. Every mile driven gets them one step closer to safety, love, and a forever home!

🚨 URGENT 🚨 Meet GOOBER — and yes, her name says it all.

This goofy, gangly, gloriously awkward girl is a 1-year-old German Shepherd/Pit mix who has absolutely no idea she’s not a lap dog. She WILL climb onto you. She WILL hug you with her whole body. She WILL make you laugh until your sides hurt, and she’s been doing it at the shelter since April with zero family to call her own. 💔

Goober is pure love in a sturdy, wiggly package. She’s still very much a puppy! She is silly, clumsy, bursting with joy! She greets every single person like they’re the best thing that’s ever happened to her (because honestly, to her, you are). She doesn’t just want a family. She needs one. And she is running out of time.

She will be your shadow. Your comedian. Your 60-pound lap warmer who doesn’t understand physics. She will keep you laughing every single day.
