We are sending love to all of our adopted pups and their families and to all of you. We have decided to keep two of our puppies. We’ll share their lives as they grow up. Starting with this: we had a traumatic event happen. Our girl puppy, Jatziri, was bitten by a rattlesnake on a hike this past Wednesday. She hopped over to the snake and it bit her on the head barely missing her right eye. The over five foot long rattler was coiled up at first and blended perfectly with the tan desert sand in the Palmdale area. She was taken immediately to the vet. Our warrior is home now and doing much better. We’re hoping she completely heals with no negative long-term effects or necrosis. She seems to be getting back to normal and isn’t showing she’s in pain. She’s taking her antibiotics, pain medication, Benadryl, CBD to get well plus a healthy diet and probiotics. Hopefully everyone is careful when they’re out in nature. We had the vet do everything necessary to bring her back to us and she bravely fought for her life, finally showing signs of recovery when we got to visit her on her second evening in the ER. She surprised the vet and the vet techs by recognizing us and getting up, trying to get out of the kennel and crying for us. It was terribly distressing as she was swollen to double her size and she was in pain even with heavy meds and enough antivenin for a 100 pound dog. Jatziri is 3 months old and about 20 pounds. Today she is eating well, wants to play, and is back to her normal size. We hope to share news of continuing good recovery in the weeks to come. @ Los Angeles County, California
