Today is National Cat Day! 🐈 It is a day to urge people to adopt from local animal shelters and to stress the importance of spaying and neutering cats. It is also a good day to mention that we are always looking for volunteers, fosters, or sponsors for our shelter cats and kittens. If you are interested please contact the shelter at (812) 295-5900 and leave a message. Until then, check out all of our adorable felines that are either at our shelter in Loogootee or at our shelter partner, The Cat’s Closet, in Bloomington. Don’t forget to spay and neuter your pets. 😉🐾🧡

If you are wondering what we need/want the most right now at the shelter it is some yummy treats for our dogs! They love treat time and we are pretty much out of all treats. Here are a few different ones that we have on our Amazon wishlist that is pinned to the top of our page. If anyone would like to order some or pick some up the next time you are at the store I know our doggos would sure love you for it! And the best thing is that most of them aren’t picky so they will love whatever you get for them. Thank you! 🐾🐶🦴

Today is National Black Cat Day! It is a day to help promote black shelter cats because they are often harder to adopt due to the negative stereotypes associated with black cats. We have 6 of the most adorable black cats/kittens available for adoption. Livvy, Grizzly, and Grimm are at our shelter in Loogootee and Bogey, Rachel, and Phoebe are at The Cat’s Closet in Bloomington. If you are interested in any of these precious babies, apply on our website at martincountyhumane.org. 🐈‍⬛🖤🐾

Sweet Sweet Sugar found her forever family! 💗 Sugar has been with us for almost 3 months and I wasn’t sure why or how until today! Sugar has had several inquiries, a few visitors and even went out for Doggy Day Out but until last Wednesday I didn’t have THAT feeling I get when I believe it’s the right fit. Mom and Dad came to meet Sugar on Wednesday evening and I think it was love at first sight for all three of them. 💖 They chose not to bring their kiddos because they wanted to see how it went. They decided to keep the adoption a secret from the kids all the way up until they jumped out of the vehicle at the shelter, saw Sugar, and their son said “are we getting a dog?”. Oh my goodness what a wonderful sight to see! This family is the absolute sweetest and the most perfect fit for our Sugar girl. Forget the shelter life! Family and farm life is Sugar’s world from now on! 💝🐾🥰

You deserve it! 💙🤗🐾 (Check out the comments for more pics of Fred and his new family. )
