Day #3 of United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) Eventing Coaches Symposium focused on cross country. What a treat to absorb all of this in the sunshine at Galway Downs.

Wednesday was day #2 with a focus on Show Jumping. We focused on rider responsibilities to connect flat work to the show jumping. We ended with Tamie Smith teaching two demo riders SJ exercises with XC questions.

Day #1 of ECP was focused on dressage. It was a treat to see an Advanced test ride coached by Steffen Peters. Grateful to be here learning through the United States Eventing Association, Inc. (USEA) hosted by Galway Downs.

There’s a special place in horsey heaven for the greatest teachers of all.

Largo, we did endless lessons together. You were the one that made riders believe they could be safe on a horse again. You showered the kids in your grace & gentleness. Your wisdom would shine through in your well attuned safety stop.

What a weekend! It was an absolute pleasure to be part of this dream team. 5 BAM crew horses went BN!

Jessica Cooper on Christine’s “Free at Lass” (Baedos) came together in “operation finding joy”, help us celebrate their win on a 34.1 💙

Hayden on “The One and Only Ivan” (Ivan) had 3 really nice phases with special attention to bold and confident jumping phases. They placed 3rd with a 36.9 💛

Hayden on “Manners Maketh” (Eggsy) had a taste of being in first-she did a brilliant job keeping the lid on XC were he wanted to be a feral wild beast. So added time & safety managed, they ended in 5th. 🩷

Meg and “Bang the Drum” (Synco) put down the 3 softest, most obedient and chill phases to date. A real achievement with a 🔥 🐌 to finish in 8th 🤎

Christine & Eagle Fifty (Wasabi, Wallet, Winnebago, Widget, Wilbur, Wallaby) finished on their dressage score, which means he is really working to keep 4 on the floor in the dressage & has scope for dayzzzz in the jumping. Huge credit to Christine for tactfully, thoughtful and brilliant jumping rounds. They finished in 10th 🖤

Huge congratulations are in order for our fearless pursuer of dreams, Jen. Thank you for being the best example of perseverance! Your support as a friend, barn owner and veterinary care really helps so many dreams come to fruit! 💜

Jen & “Blueshift” (Shelly, Sheldon) finished their Training with a 35.6 and ended 3rd 💛

Jen & “Hot Shot Kid” moved up to Novice and finished 6th with a 36.4 💚

Also! The perpetual volunteer-er and supporter for the love of the sport goes to Bob & Erin Owen. Bob came to the events 20+ years ago, saw ways to improve it & is the reason we have fantastic sounds all through the valley & barns. They spend many weekends at Otter on non-show and dressage show and event weekends making it better every time. Thank you, friends! ❤️❤️
