According to UNESCO, World Book Day was created so that "celebrations [could] take place all over the world to recognize the scope of books - a link between the past and the future, a bridge between generations and across cultures".

What a better way to celebrate than visiting your local library to pick a book up to read to your furry friend!? Reading to our pets strengthens our bonds, can have a calming effect, and promote the feeling of a safe and secure environment for them.

Whether you're studying for school, catching up with your favorite documentarian, teaching a child to read, exploring new worlds with a best-selling fiction, or solving the latest murder mystery, consider bringing your four legged friend along by reading aloud. You might just have a new book-worm on your hands!

Let us know what book you're reading with your furry friend today. Bonus points for book-club pictures!

🌍💚 Happy Earth Day from Sanlando Springs Animal Hospital! 💚🌍

Today, we celebrate the planet we all call home — humans, pets, and wildlife alike. 🐾

As veterinarians, we’re committed not only to the health of your beloved pets but also to the health of the environment they live in. Every walk in the park, every clean bowl of water, and every breath of fresh air matters.

Here are a few easy ways pet lovers can help protect the planet:
🐕 Use biodegradable p**p bags
🐱 Choose eco-friendly pet toys and supplies
🌿 Spay & neuter to help control overpopulation
🚮 Keep outdoor spaces clean and safe for wildlife
♻️Recycle pet food containers & packaging

Together, we can create a greener, cleaner world — one pawprint at a time. 🌱🐾

Feral cats need love, too! It's rainy season here in Florida and our feral colonies are wetter than ever. Even though these cats are often too wary to be touched by humans, they are still hungry and need shelter.

You can help by reporting feral cats to your local Humane Society or County Animal Services. Florida is home to many TNR (trap-neuter-release) programs that help control the feral populations. They also offer vaccine services so that these cats are protected and limit the spread of diseases to owned free-roaming pets. Healthy pets are happy pets.

Because outdoor cats can fall prey to predators such as coyotes, bears, and large birds of prey, it is best practice to keep your own personal cats indoors, especially at nighttime. As always, we recommend spaying/neutering and vaccinating your cats. If you have any questions about spaying/neutering and vaccinations, please contact us!

🐰🥚 Happy Easter Weekend!
While you’re enjoying your chocolate eggs, remember to keep those sweet treats out of paw’s reach and stick to pet-friendly goodies instead.
Friendly reminder that chocolate, especially dark chocolate and products containing cocoa, can be dangerous to pets, even in small amounts.
