Update on Casper!

Man, where do I start with this?

Her p**p sample came back clean, so no issues there. She has serve membrane damage in her left eye, she will be on meds to keep it from getting infected and damaged more.

Now her wing :(....

Her Left wing she has no bones holding her wing in place. basically after it broke, her bones just started tearing down until it was completely gone. She has alot of scar tissue which you can see in the x-ray holding the wing in place but thats why is drags. This wing is dead weight and she cant not move it at all.

Her Right wing bones are twisted and mangled. She has barely any movement in her wing. In the x-ray you can see what i am talking about. Now when she falls or jumps she uses this wing has her fall protection. This is why her wing bleeds and is so damaged, she used it to land on for so long, now it is just covered in scar tissue. The outer skin is in such rough shape that it bleeds just touching it.

We talked about removing 1 wing but she dosent have a good wing to keep her balance, we talked about removing both wings but he said then at that point we should just euthanasia her cause we are taking everything away from her, her quality of life would be under 10% at that point. She dosent have a good wing to be in the wing removal program.

We are leaving her wings alone, she will need a short cage with flat perches and soft blankets on the bottom of her cage to help when she falls.

She got her nails done today and he cleaned up her beak, fun fact she has a scissor beak.

Her heart looks good from what the x-ray showed and from what he hears but some of the scar tissue is covering the heart. He said her bracelet shows she was breed out of the country and by the x-ray and her condition, he thinking she in her late 40s. We are thinking she might have a good 5 to 10 years if we can keep her from jumping or landing wrong anymore.

She was so sweet with Dr Tom, she allowed him to do anything he wanted and she didnt even make a sound.

Today bill for her cost $531.25..

She had a good first day, she got her loves and made her voice known! She a little goofy ball!

Got the misting turned on and had the kids out playing in the water most of the day! Cockatoo were inside relaxing from yesterday full day in the misting system.
