Meet Trista! ❤️
If you're looking for a sweet, silly companion with a big personality, Trista might just be your perfect match!
At 9 years old and 21 pounds, Trista is the perfect size for cuddling on the couch, riding along on adventures, or simply being your loyal best friend.
Trista gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys making friends of all sizes. Some of her favorite playmates are large dogs, proving that she has a big heart and isn't intimidated by bigger buddies. She's also done well with elementary-aged children and teens, making her a great family companion.
She is crate trained and keeps her crate clean. If she can't make it outside in time, she'll happily use a washable p*e pad. She's treat-motivated, making continued training fun and rewarding.
Trista loves car rides, walks nicely on a leash, and has impressive recall when enjoying time in the yard. She's also shown a sweet, curious interest in cats and has never displayed any desire to harm them.
Like many adorable squishy-faced pups, Trista comes with plenty of snorts, snores, and funny little noises that only add to her charm!
She is currently finishing a short course of medication and will be ready for her forever home once her treatment is complete.

♻️🐾 Today is National Upcycling Day! 🐾♻️
Upcycling is all about giving something a second chance, a fresh start, and a new purpose.
That sounds a lot like rescue.
Today we'd like to introduce Sophie.
Sophie is a 10-year-old sweetheart whose world was turned upside down when her owner passed away. Through no fault of her own, she found herself needing a new place to call home.
Now she's waiting for someone willing to give her the second chance she deserves.
Don't let her age fool you—Sophie still loves her toys, enjoys going for walks, and absolutely adores her people. She would do best as the only dog in the home where she can soak up all the love and attention she has been missing.
At 10 years old, Sophie isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for a family. A couch. A toy box. A walking buddy. A soft place to land.
Today, on National Upcycling Day, we're celebrating second chances and hoping Sophie's is right around the corner. ❤️

And if there were an award for water consumption, we're pretty sure Dancer would be taking home the gold medal. 😂
This sweet girl takes hydration very seriously and never misses an opportunity to visit her water bowl. If drinking water were an Olympic sport, she'd be headed for the podium!
Dancer is still searching for a home of her own. She loves her people, enjoys being the center of attention, and would do best as the only dog in the home, where she can soak up all the love (and have unlimited access to her favorite water bowl).

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY FROM THE "LEFT ON READ" CREW 🐾
While everyone else was out picking out grills, power tools, and socks, we're still over here waiting for someone to choose us.
We've watched puppies get adopted. We've watched dogs come and go. We've watched applications roll in for everyone except us.
At this point, we're starting to think our adoption profiles need fishing pictures and dad jokes.
So this Father's Day, we'd like to remind everyone:
✔️ We don't care if you're rich.
✔️ We don't care if you mow in straight lines.
✔️ We don't even care if you wear white New Balances.
We just want a dad.
A dad to share snacks with. A dad to steal the remote from. A dad to follow to the bathroom. A dad to tell everyone he's "not getting attached" while secretly buying us our own blanket.
We're not the shiny new puppies anymore, but we promise we're pretty great.

APL has 7 licensed veterinarians on staff. Our mobile units are modern stainless steel surgery suites. Surgery fees include a pain injection, an antibiotic injection and all dogs go home wearing an e-collar. Remember, dogs should come on leashes (NOT THE RETRACTABLE KIND) and cats must come in carriers.
