Meet Penelope 🐾 This sweet girl was brought to us after someone found her with a severely swollen front leg. She has a fractured radius and ulna, but she’s already being cared for and doing so well. We’re splinting her up and hoping for a full recovery. 🤍

Born with severely underdeveloped eyes, Stevie faced chronic infections and discomfort early in life.

Removing his eyes gave him a chance to live more comfortably and now he’s doing exactly that.

Ever playful, always curious. Stevie is proof that quality of life does matter!

Meet Blue.

Blue came to us very sick with a disease we suspect was leptospirosis, an illness that can cause severe liver and kidney failure in dogs and can also be dangerous for people.

While there is a vaccine that offers partial protection from the worst effects, Blue had not been vaccinated.

Despite care and our best efforts, he was not able to recover. 💔

His eyes appear green here because his body was turning yellow from liver failure.

Blue was deeply loved while he was with us.

Hog Island is a place for locals and sailors to gather, share food and drinks, and enjoy the view. It has also become a place where dogs get to do the same! Many adopted dogs come here to reunite with old friends and make some new ones along the way.

Which got me thinking: rescue isn’t just about survival. It’s about giving animals a chance to live a good life.

A life of love and joy is made possible in large part thanks to the which works tirelessly to treat, foster, and find forever homes for dogs and cats all over Grenada. They make a huge and measurable impact on reducing animal suffering here.

Cats are often the hardest part of this work to see.

Many aren’t social, aren’t owned in the traditional sense, and don’t come looking for help. But they carry real risks: parasites, toxoplasmosis, and viruses like FIV and FELV. And when they aren’t fixed, those diseases can spread quickly through entire litters and feline communities.

Volunteers, students, clinic staff, and Good Samaritans set traps, bring the cats in, and make sure they’re treated, sterilized, and recorded properly.

This little kitten was found in unsafe conditions, alongside her mom and the rest of the litter.

They were cleaned up, and mom was spayed, helping prevent the cycle from continuing.

The Heeling Vet is back in Colorado for the month! 🌨❄️🏔I am very excited for this event, and beyond grateful to those who have helped me put this idea into motion! 💃🕺🐈🐕

I spend half the year moving through islands in the Carribean to bring veterinary care to those that have limited access to it. This limited access has been magnified by the devastation caused by hurricanes last year. Please join us for a night filled with fun for an excellent cause!
