I'm Karin, a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Certified Behavior Consultant (CDBC), a Mentor Trainer for Animal Behavior College, and a volunteer Dog Trainer for the Animal Care Centers of New York. I offer customized dog training and behavior management primarily using reward-based, force-free methods in the comfort of your own home or through remote learning (video

calls). dog rushing to a dog bed when the doorbell rings instead of barking at the door). The goal is for YOU to learn what training is all about so that (after you work with me) you would be able to train other dogs you may have in the future without necessarily having to hire another dog trainer. Although training sessions are usually held about 1-2 weeks apart, once you sign up, you may contact me 24/7 for questions or concerns that simply cannot wait till our next session. That's certainly one thing that sets me apart from other trainers.

***Beginning 2023, I will no longer be taking on clients whose primary concern is separation anxiety***

When Training Chance (who was dog reactive) passed away last October, I signed up to offer daycare/boarding on the Rover app. Totally forgot about it till someone contacted me last week.

His baby sister is having their first birthday party today, so this big guy is spending the entire day with us.

Meet Scooter. Gentle giant, listens to commands. Couldn’t have asked for a better first client.

Because socialization starts at three weeks of age when puppies are typically still with their dam/breeder.

Because early puppy socialization should really start as early as 3 weeks of age, meaning while they’re still with the breeder. And socialization does NOT just mean meeting other dogs. I call it “100 things before the 100th day.”

had her annual vet check-up tonight. Four vaccines were due but I chose to have only the rabies shot administered today (and will schedule the rest in a few weeks). Instantly gave her severe allergy which has never happened before. Vet was already closed, so I rushed to CVS to grab Benadryl. Considered giving her Trazodone as well to calm her, but that would have meant two downers. I chose to try the Thunder Shirt instead. Life saver! She stopped barking, panting, pacing, and scratching, and retreated to her dog bed.

A note about using the Thunder Shirt: First, it has to be tight. Second, it loses effect after a while so it shouldn’t stay on too long.

🐾CRATE TRAINING GUIDELINES🐾
✨ 1. Avoid FOMO!Place the crate in a low-traffic area for peace and quiet.
✨ 2. Cozy up!Cover the crate to create a dark, den-like space (no dog bed for potty-training pups!).
✨ 3. Meal Time Magic!Feed meals inside the crate:🐶 Puppies: 3 meals/day🐕 Adults: 2 meals/day10 MINUTES TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT!
✨ 4. Keep ‘em Busy!Always leave a long-lasting, high-value treat for longer crate times!Examples: Bully sticks, stuffed Kongs, cow ears, etc.
✨ 5. A Tired Dog is a Good Dog!Physical exercise + mental stimulation before crating.
✨ 6. Crate Games!
* Hide treats inside the crate for a fun discovery! Surprise!
* Close the door while tossing treats inside to encourage your dog to enter. Finally, open door. Dogs always want what they can’t have!
* Toss a treat in, let them claim it, then invite them out. Repeat. Make it fun!
