Desert Dogs The Desert Dog Stomp Club and Desert Dog Troglodytes A November 1981 weekend of Punk Rock and Desert Exploration started it all. Its a bit easier today.

The orginial Desert Cabin, caves and old mine camps were the lure then and now. Then the only way you could be a member was to bottom a 1,250' mine shaft in 29 Palms. The Desert Dogs love to explore off road and undergorund. We tread lightly.

Gen II Desert Dogs , Blake Bassham and Jake Hill discover and then rescue a Desert Tortoise that had fallen down a mine shaft just outside the boundary of Joshua Tree National Park on Saturday. Many desert animals including Tortoise’s use abandoned mines for shelter. The Tortoise wandered into a horizontal tunnel (Adit) and then fell down an interior shaft (Winze). Fortunately the shaft was inclined instead of being vertical and the tortoise appeared uninjured.
