The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, animal welfare organization providing care and housing for up to 25 dogs and 60 cats in our facilities, and even more animals in our foster homes.

Our hearts are heavy as we share that another one of our longtime furry friends has crossed the rainbow bridge. Gabi was a part of our Out-U-Go family for over 10 years. Colleen, who was lucky enough to spend so many years with her shared these heartfelt words:

“Gabi was one of my first pups when I started 7 years ago. We met my 1st weekend with the company. We learned a lot together, and we grew old together, too. I will miss your little pink tongue hanging out. And your fierce love of walking.”

We are so grateful to have cared for Gabi all these years and she will forever hold a place in our hearts.

Today we’re remembering sweet Arlo who brought so much love to everyone who knew him. We had the great pleasure of being a part of his journey for the last 9 years. His sitter, Aidan shared these words that reflect the joy he brought into our lives:

“Arlo was always the sweetest little guy both to me as well as literally any other person we’d see on the walks. He would often stop us from walking just because he saw a random person nearby and he wanted to say hi. He’d just lay down in the grass like he was stalking prey, and patiently wait for his new friend to come up and give him some pets!”

Arlo will be missed dearly and our hearts are with his family ❤️
