Apollo stopped waiting at the kennel door a long time ago.

When he first came to the shelter four years ago, he was different. He was younger then — all oversized paws, wagging tail, and hopeful brown eyes that searched every face that walked by. He carried his tennis ball everywhere.

A family came and chose him. Apollo walked out of the shelter with his head high and his tail wagging so hard his whole body swayed. The staff cried happy tears as they watched him leave. They thought this was it. They thought Apollo had finally found home.

But home didn’t last. We found out Apollo couldn’t live with cats.

Then…adopted again.
Then returned again. He had too much energy.

His last home was the hardest.
Apollo loved his person deeply. He waited by the windows for him. Slept beside him on the couch. But then, Apollo watched as the only person he thought would stay was taken away in handcuffs.

When Apollo was returned to the shelter after that, he walked into the kennel silently. No wagging tail. No excitement. He just laid down in the corner with his head resting on his paws, staring at the wall like something inside him had finally broken.

Our staff noticed immediately.
Apollo doesn’t play much anymore unless someone brings out his tennis ball. Even then, the joy only lasts a moment before fading again. His little plastic pool has become the one place he seems at peace.

Some dogs he loves instantly. Others he doesn’t trust. Cats and small dogs are a definite no for him.
But people?
Apollo still wants to believe in people.

He doesn’t ask for much.
Just someone who won’t leave.
Someone who will take him on walks and let him splash in his pool during summer afternoons. Someone who will play fetch in the yard until sunset. Someone who understands that healing doesn’t happen overnight.

Apollo is still waiting. He has a sponsored adoption fee. We are open from 12-5. Please come give this boy a chance

❗️PLEASE READ - CAT INTAKE IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED ❗️

Our cat intake is currently CLOSED while we spay/neuter the current amount of cats and kittens at the shelter and in foster homes. Please do NOT show up at the shelter with cats and kittens without calling first. We filled every single kennel we have yesterday.

If you do find a litter of kittens, please do the following:

1. Call the shelter between the hours of 12 and 5 or email [email protected] to let us know the location of the kittens you have found.
2. If you need food to feed them while you wait for room to open at the shelter, please stop by during the hours of 12 and 5 to pick some up. We can help on a case by case basis.
3. We will add you to our waitlist and call when there is open kennel space.
4. Do not move the kittens or trap kittens until you have called the shelter and asked if it is appropriate to do so.

Please remember...we are doing the best we can. However, the cat overpopulation crisis is a HUGE issue in this community and it cannot be solved over night. We need to SPAY AND NEUTER aggressively in this County or things will never improve.

❗️❗️❗️WE NEED KITTEN FOSTERS. We can open up more kennel space if we find homes for the kittens to grow while they wait for surgery. We have SEVERAL litters of healthy kittens and adult cats waiting for surgery before they can be adopted. ❗️❗️❗️

Fostering is EASY! We provide the food, litterbox, and all medical care your kitten(s) will need while in your care. Once the kittens hit 2 pounds, we then put them on our surgery list and bring them back to the shelter.

Stop by the shelter from 12 to 5 today to see how you can help!

Please share! Thank you! 🐱🐱🐱

‼️Update: Foster Homes Found ‼️

🐕 Foster Homes Needed 🐕

We have three 8 week old Jack Russell Puppies looking for foster homes while they wait for their surgery dates. Names and s*x are below each picture.

These puppies are very playful, but can be timid when separated from their siblings. They need a foster home that will work with them on socialization as well as house and potty training.

Fostering is FREE! We provide all the medical care, food, crate, blankets, and toys.

Once the puppies are fixed, they will be available for adoption. Foster families have first dibs on adoption 🙂

Each puppy will have an adoption fee of $200 and they will be fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations!

Stop in today from 12 to 5 to meet these pint sized babies!
