We don’t talk about Bruno? Absolutely we do! This sweet older gentleman is waiting for his forever home and new best friend for life! Bruno has been at the Lockhart Animal Shelter for 80 days!! That’s waaayyyyy too long for this boy! Bruno loves any and all attention, as you can tell Bruno has had a hard past life. All of his teeth are worn down tremendously and scars cover his body. Thanks to the care by the shelter staff and volunteers, Bruno is in tip top condition and ready to be in a family. Think Bruno could be your new forever best friend? I'm SO happy to make this post. 🥰

Being in code red capacity, is exhausting to say the least. Sometimes when stray after stray just keeps rolling in and you have no where to put them, you start to feel defeated.

BUT, it's things like this that remind us why we do what we do..every.single.day. 🐾

I'm so happy for Ozzy, Molly, Fiji, and their new families. I'm also very grateful for this community and everyone's support. This is proof that sharing posts and being involved works. Keep it going. ♥️

✴️ We're still in need of adopters and fosters ASAP. We're not out of the woods yet! ✴️

What is going on people?!

Now we need fosters, volunteers, and adopters even more. We legitimately have dogs in the hallway...

I posted last week that we were like double triple max code red freak out mode. We still are. And guess what?

6 more strays in since yesterday. SIX. And this is one of them. 😢

Myself and another volunteer spend hours and hours reaching out to other rescues to see if they have space. They're all full.

⚠️ We need adopters and fosters soooo badly.

Fostering is a temporary gig.

You're basically babysitting in your home until their permanent adopter comes along. The shelter/rescue the dog comes from provides food, medicine if needed, and covers vet costs. It helps overflowing shelters because 1) it frees up a kennel and 2) that dog gets to be in a home while he waits for his adopter as opposed to an extremely stressful shelter environment. Fostering is just as important and helpful as adopting.

It's been weeks since we've had someone adopt a dog. Honestly, people very rarely even come in.

Eventually, they'll have us start euthanizing for space. And that's extremely extremely heartbreaking. 💔
