🦜💚 Tomorrow is a big day here at Happy Endings Sanctuary of Texas !!

Please help us welcome Kai the Green-Cheeked Conure to the sanctuary family. While Kai has never been DNA sexed, her owner has always referred to her as a she, so that's what we'll be calling her too. 💚

Like so many of the animals who find their way here, Kai's story comes with some difficult life changes, and we're honored to be trusted with her care.

Kai will be joining our feathered crew alongside Zsa Zsa the Cockatoo, Henry the Amazon, Kermit the Quaker, and cockatiels Cheekie and Baldwin. She'll have plenty of bird friends, enrichment, attention, and love.

A huge thank you to her owner for making such a selfless decision and putting Kai's well-being first. We know this couldn't have been easy.

Welcome home, Kai. We can't wait to meet you tomorrow. 🏡🦜💚

This handsome old man is Domino. ❤️

When Domino came to us from Woodville, Texas, he was one of the saddest cases I've ever seen. Underweight, neglected, and carrying a look in his eyes that told a story all by itself. The people who should have cared for him didn't, and he deserved so much better.

Today, Domino is 27 years old.

Twenty-seven.

And just look at him. 🥹

His weight is good, his coat shines, his eyes are bright, and he's enjoying the kind of life every senior horse deserves. No expectations. No hard work. No being tossed aside because he's old. Just good feed, good hay, good friends, and a safe place to call home.

Some people look at an old horse and see the years behind them. I look at Domino and see everything he's survived.

Watching him thrive at 27 years old is exactly why we do this. Every senior horse matters. Every one of them deserves love, dignity, and a soft landing when the world has given up on them.

I'd say he's looking pretty darn good for 27. ❤️🐴

🚜🌾 Hay run complete! 🌾🚜
Thanks to a few amazing supporters, we raised $45 toward hay for the sanctuary animals. Today I hooked up a borrowed trailer and headed to Livingston Feed & Farm Supply, where I picked up 20 square bales of hay at $8.99 each.
The total came to $179.80, so I covered the remaining balance because when the hay is gone, the hay is gone, and these horses still have to eat.
The horses are always the hardest animals here to raise funds for, which has never made much sense to me. Many of these seniors were unwanted, neglected, or headed for slaughter before they found their way to Happy Endings. They may not be the flashy fundraiser animals, but they're just as deserving.
So thank you to the folks who chipped in. Every dollar helped, and tonight the hay barn isn't empty. ❤️🐴

🚨🐴 $5 FEED STORE FRIDAY 🐐🚨

Well y'all... we're officially out of hay here at Happy Endings Sanctuary of Texas .....

A good friend is letting me borrow his trailer today so I can make a run to Livingston Feed & Farm Supply and load up on square bales for the horses and goats. The hay is $8.99 a bale, and right now we need all we can get.

The horses and goats don't understand budgets, donations, or how expensive feed has gotten. They just know breakfast is supposed to show up every day.

Some of these animals came here after being neglected, abandoned, dumped, or discarded when they were no longer wanted. Now they're safe, they're loved, and making sure they stay fed is a promise I take seriously.

If just a handful of people send $5 today, it adds up fast and helps put hay back in the barn where it belongs.

Memorial Day means different things to different people… but at its core, it’s about remembering the ones who never made it home.

The men and women who kissed their families goodbye, put on that uniform, and gave everything they had for people they’d never even meet.

Today isn’t just about cookouts, lake days, and long weekends. It’s about freedom that came with a price tag paid in somebody else’s blood, somebody else’s child, somebody else’s best friend.

So while we enjoy the day, don’t forget them.

And if you know a Gold Star family, check on them today. Holidays like this don’t always feel like celebrations to the people left behind.
