Nola went for a hike full of great adventure. She also worked on recall, her place command, swimming, socializing, and had exposure to things she wasn’t allowed to socialize with. There are many advantages to training with a realistic and FUN task, like hiking. An enriching experience for Nola, in every way. Great job, Nola!

You’ve already had a sneak peak of this wild child, Captain, since he attended Bark at the Park! Captain is with us for a 3 week board and train program. He and Nola have similar energy levels and goals in training, making them a great pair to work together.

We welcome Nola to our 3 week board and train program. This little girl has a lot of s***k she’s learning to harness. Her family is very active, so Nola needs to be comfortable and confident in several different kinds of settings. She’s the goofiest little girl. Let’s go, Nola!!

Bark at the Park was a blast! This is one of my favorite days of the year, as I get to watch people thrive with their dogs after all the hard work they’ve put in. You all deserved this so much!

Shego and Bandit had a play date while Shego stayed with me. One of the benefits to group lessons and events is meeting other like minded people and pups to do things with! These two are both high energy and make a great pair. Speaking of events, remember Bark at the Park is THIS Saturday! Reach out if you’re interested in joining us. Get out with your pups today!!

⭐️ The weather is getting nicer and that means Bark in the Park is coming, Saturday, April 18th at 1pm! We have so much fun seeing pups we’ve trained come out to events. We’ll attend this as a pack and same as last year, you pay for you, we’ll cover the pups! Once we get a good headcount going we’ll make sure to get tickets in a section together. Reach out to us if you’re in, or comment below!

If you have a pup you wish you could take to activities like this, call or message us for a free consult! There are two more Bark in the Park games this summer ⭐️

Todd hasn’t gotten to experience as much as his family would like in his first year with them because he was difficult to handle, mostly the hu***ng 😳. At the beginning of training I let dogs pull me towards things, bark at things, sniff and explore. My man, Todd, is about a good stick. Letting him show me that early on in training means this nonsense is now a reward for him. Sure, I could drill heel and make him walk next to me at this park, but imagine if I leaned in and got to know him and what he’s about. It’s give and take, and moments like these make the more difficult work go smoother. So I guess instead of my usual mantra, “play with your dogs”, I’ll ask you all to ponder what your dog considers play and are you giving them that in some way?

Beans has been a day train for years now and this particular winter really kept us out of the woods. We’ve been dusting off commands to get ready for hiking. I say frequently how important recall is during hiking, however, heel has its place too. Beans runs free most of the time when we hike, but has supplemental commands since that means he’s usually ahead of me on the trail. If he sees a dog, he lays down to mark that for me, and if he sees a human he trots back to me and settles into a heel until released again. Having to say almost nothing to Beans and have him know what’s expected of him creates mutual respect that keeps him as safe as possible, while having an incredible amount of freedom.

Get out and practice your expectations with your pups now! The warming weather means before you know it, places will be crowded and at times difficult. Set yourself and your pup up for success. Pack hikes coming soon! 😍
