Huge shoutout to our SAGE Dublin Surgeon, Dr. Celia Valverde! She worked with VERT (Veterinary Emergency Response Team) during the Kincaid Fire helping assess and treat animals who were evacuated to Solano County Fairgrounds and Sonoma Marin Fairgrounds. Both fairgrounds were at capacity with over 400 horses, goats, pigs, and a menagerie of avian species.

We thank Dr. Valverde for her contributions to our community!

The Livermore Police Department's Animal Control Unit would like to share the following information.

We have just received results from the County Health Department that a bat Livermore Animal Services picked up on Friday tested positive for rabies.

On Friday October 18th, a sick bat was found by employees at a business at Second St. and S. Livermore Avenue.

Animal Services responded and submitted the bat to the County Health Department for rabies testing. We were informed of the positive test result on October 21st.

Any suspect human contact with the rabid bat should seek immediate medical attention; and all public health concerns must be reported to the County Public Health Department at 510-267-3250.

Vector Control Staff will be leafleting the affected neighborhood with Rabies Alert pamphlet.

Please make sure that your pets are up to date on rabies vaccines, including cats.

Please remember not to contact wild animals and call Animal Services if you encounter a sick or injured wild animal.

Yay for microchip indentification!!
Recently, Duchess (pictured) was frightened when a motorcycle backfired. She slipped out of her collar and bolted. Her owner followed her, but was unable to catch up with her.
Duchess ended up at the ACE train station on Railroad Ave. Two team members (Tarin and Angelica) were waiting for the train when they saw Duchess coming up to the platform.
She came up to Tarin and seemed very grateful to have some support.
We brought Duchess back to the hospital, at that time not knowing who she was or where she had come from.
Pam was hoping that she had a microchip, and to everyone's delight she did!! Since she had slipped out of her collar, there was not other form of indentification.
We were able to get contact information, and found out that she is a patient here at Livermore Veterinary Hospital. Within a half hour, Duchess was back home safe and sound. Learn more about microchipping on https://www.homeagain.com/membership-services.html
