A Tribute to LilBit 🐾

Today, the Run & Done family says goodbye to a very special little gentleman.

LilBit may have been small in stature, but he had a personality larger than life. He carried himself like he owned every room he walked into, and somehow, with one look from those wise eyes, he usually did.

He was the kind of cat who didn’t need to demand attention—he simply earned it. Whether he was lounging in his favorite spot, greeting me with quiet curiosity, or giving me that classic “I’ve seen it all” expression, LilBit had a way of making everyone smile.

For such a little guy, he left an enormous mark on the hearts of those who loved him. He taught us to appreciate the simple things: a warm place to nap, a gentle scratch behind the ears, and the comfort of being close to the people who care about you.

Today our hearts are heavy. Losing one beloved friend is hard enough, but saying goodbye to both Otto and LilBit on the same day feels especially unfair. Yet we find comfort in knowing that the love they gave and the memories they created will stay with us forever.

Run free, sweet boy. May there always be sunny windows, cozy blankets, and endless treats waiting for you on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.

You may have been called LilBit, but the hole you’ve left behind is anything but little.

Goodbye, Otto ❤️

June 4th, 2021 was the first day I had the privilege of walking Otto. What started as a dog walk turned into over four years of adventures, belly rubs, sniff inspections, neighborhood patrols, and enough side eye to keep me humble.

Three to four days a week, Otto was part of my routine, and in so many ways, part of my family.

Today I had to say goodbye.

Otto wasn’t the biggest dog, but he somehow managed to take up a giant space in every heart he met. He had ears that seemed to pick up radio stations from neighboring counties, a face that could convince you to hand over every treat in your pocket, and a personality far bigger than his little body.

He taught me that every walk should include stopping to investigate absolutely everything, that grass is best enjoyed one sniff at a time, and that punctuality means nothing when there’s a squirrel or even better a cat involved.

The hardest part of loving dogs is that they never stay nearly long enough. The best part is that they leave paw prints all over our lives that never really fade.

Thank you, Otto, for every walk, every tail wag, every happy greeting, and every moment that made me smile. You were deeply loved, and I will miss you more than words can say.

Run fast, little buddy. Chase all the cats and squirrels. Demand all the treats. And if heaven has a neighborhood watch program, I’m pretty sure you’re already in charge.
