If you’re thinking about making your home Smart, read this story. This is real, especially since the smart plugs are plugs you plug into a dumb outlet. Creates a never ending dog whistle in the house. If you want to make your dumb house smart, switch out the outlets entirely.

PSA: We adopted our dog, Rowdy, from the shelter 5 years ago. He was already an adult dog, so we estimate he is about 11 or 12 years old at this point. I love this dog. He is the sweetest soul and my BFF. For the past week or so he hasn’t been acting like himself. He licked a raw spot on his foot. He was panting constantly. He was pacing. Sunday morning, the pacing and panting got so bad, and I was REALLY nervous that there was something seriously wrong with him. For 45 minutes, he panted like crazy and constantly paced back and forth. He was keeping his tail tucked down all the time. His ears were pinned back. He would not settle down and he wouldn’t eat. We tried everything. I ended up giving him a trazadone that he takes sometimes when he goes to the groomer. It seemed to take a little bit of the edge off, but not much. He still wouldn’t eat and still wouldn’t settle. I took off work on Monday so I could take him to the vet. We did bloodwork and x-rays. Knowing he is a senior dog, I was trying to prepare myself for the worst case scenario. I was glad to see his bloodwork was great except for some elevated liver enzymes. The x-rays showed he was a little backed up but no major issues. He got an anti-nausea injection and some Gabapentin to help with some tenderness in his back and to hopefully help keep him calm. When we got home, he was ok for a little bit, but eventually started pacing and panting again. We walked around the neighborhood for a long time and he used the bathroom a lot. He seemed pretty happy about that and was in good spirits until we got home and he refused to come back in the house. Every time I took him out that evening, he would hunker down like he didn’t want to come back in the house. When my vet called and I gave her the update, she suggested there may be some new electronic device in the house that was emitting a high frequency noise that is hurting his ears. We had just put new smart outlets in the house about a week ago. His pacing and panting were worse when the lamps were on, so I unplugged all the smart outlets. He stopped panting, stopped pacing, and ate his food. His tail was even up and wagging again. When I plugged the smart outlets all back in and asked Alexa to turn on the lamps, he immediately started panting and pacing again. My husband used an app to test the frequency of the smart outlets. It was off the charts. We've left the outlets unplugged for two days and have confirmed that it is definitely the smart outlets that are causing his stress and discomfort. He's back to being a totally normal dog now. I really thought this was the end for Rowdy based on the way he was acting. I am so thankful for Dr. Newell at BoonesCreek AnimalHospital for figuring out this simple solution. If your pets are exhibiting similar symptoms, you may want to consider checking your electronics first. I cannot express how relieved I am that he is ok now. 😭♥️🐶

Hello everyone! I’m posting this on behalf of the current owner! We are trying to place this sweet boy in a new home! You can read about him below and check out his IG! If you’re interested please reach out to me. We will help transport and get him to his new home! We are at capacity and need to find this guy a home quickly! You can reach out to me or Emily on our personal pages as well!

Sailor the bulldog is needing a new family. All in all, a loving low maintenance member of the family. However, his parents are moving to a sailboat and cannot take him with them on their journey. And hence, they are in search of a new family to love on this handsome fella. It breaks their hearts, but a re-home is the only option as other family members are unable to adopt due to their own constraints and restrictions.
Sailor is the bulldog that all other bulldogs wish they could be. At ten years of age, he is as spry as he was at three (for about 15 minutes a day). He is a lean mean loving machine. Most likely, his superb health is due to his leanness and the oodles of love this canine receives at home. He has a personality for at least every day of the week. And, when you pay close attention, you and he will have a conversation…you with your sweet words and he with his many expressions. And yes, he can be moody at times, but can’t we all? Anytime there is more than one person in a room, he has to join right in...because after all it must be a conference and he won’t be left out.
You could set your watch to his habits…rises every morning at 7:00 with his mama, proceeds to ti**le in the pine straw (not the grass), eats a healthy breakfast with an added chocolate (glucosamine) drop for joint health and fish oil for his gleaming mane, goes outside to potty again, plays for a spell, then goes back to sleep. The same routine happens at about 6:00 for dinner. He likes his hind quarters scratched and doesn’t like fireworks, storms. or loud power tools (he tolerates the power tools, just does not like them).
Sailor is has been neutered, up to date with shots, heart and flea meds, and annual blood work. Sailor is currently taking Rimadyl for some recent concerns with arthritis in his back legs. He still likes to play and go for walks.
We simply want him to find a new home that cares for him as we do…and provide him the love, attention, and time that he deserves, and we will not be able to provide. Thank you for considering making Sailor a member of your family.

While we are full at the moment, a week ago we were asked to look into a puppy that needed a rescue or rehome so I looked up everything and the baby was only a half hour away or so from us. After hearing the story and getting all the details we decided to bring her into the rescue and at least rehab her. She was very shy and timid for maybe 2 days but then opened to us and the rest of the dogs in the rescue.

Due to her age, story, history and so on we are going to keep her in sanctuary in the rescue. She is 5/6 years old, spayed, but is underweight and came to us with a lot of dry patches and missing skin. We were told it was from the food she was eating.

We gave her a good oatmeal and baking soda bath, got her nice and dry and then treated the spots with medicated spray/ointments. Her skin is much much better a week later and she’s put on some weight!

Her name when she came to us was Tinkerbell or Tink but since being with us she has developed such nicknames as, Flower, Petunia, and Magnolia…. Oh and Stinkerbell 🤣😂

She came with her blanky and a toy but has since been enjoying playing her friends and the toys we have around the house!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is okay after Hurricane Idalia!

Lana’s League will be suspending all Rescue activities and services until further notice. This includes;

- Pulling dogs from shelters or rescuing.

- Assisting with pulling dogs for fosters and others who want to adopt.

- Transportation assistance and service.

Hurricane Idalia was catastrophic and we were right in the direct path. We are left without power and water with no idea when it will be back. Our farm took substantial damage. The goat house and sheep house is demolished, three chicken coops demolished, and a shed. Tons of giant oak trees and limbs down on the property. A small piece of the roof blew off but a neighbor will repair it for us out of the kindness of his heart! Oh, and the building that’s used for the rescue, the wind blew it 5 feet off its foundation and I will need to hire someone to come move back and anchor it down now…..

I had to take the bulldogs to my best friends house 2 hours south of us where there is normalcy, power, AC, and water for their safety. Once we have power and we return home I will let everyone know as we resume.

What a day for rescue… We just got this email! This is so awesome! We applied a while ago so we could rescue/medical pull from Palm Beach County since we still travel down there! Partner Approved! We’ll be watching the urgent rescues and dogs in the shelter but probably still won’t expand until we get our facility finished for them. The GoFundMe is still live and all donations are appreciated!

Today we had to say good bye to Old Mac, Mr Mac. Sadly, he passed away in his sleep last night. He was very peaceful and something told me last night to let him sleep wherever he wants instead of putting him in his crate. He fell asleep under my desk where he usually chills during the day. If you remember, we rescued Mac about 7 months ago from a shelter in Georgia. He was found abandoned in a carport. He was brought into the shelter and vetted and neutered, his age was unknown but estimated to be between 11-15 years old. He was blind and possibly suffered doggy dementia. His neutering was botched as they left the scrotom on and we had to have an emergency scrotal ablation done to kill and fight the infection that prevented him from walking. He lived the last 7 months very peacefully and happy as an old man in the rescue. He gained lots of weight as this morning when I had to carry him he was a chunker. As sad as it is, I am glad he went peacefully in his sleep and didnt suffer or endure any pain. Mr. Mac, old man. We love you and know you are up there with Lana, Mrs. Burgz, and the honorary bulldog Gideon! R.I.P buddy I miss you already!

Rescue is already very hard. Especially if you have seniors, dogs with medical issues, feeding, cleaning, taking care of them in general. When you have dogs in sanctuary it’s even harder……. We have three and now we’re down to 2.

Having to put these dogs down that you rescue from all these crazy different situations, you get attached because when they are in Sanctuary they are with you to stay…..

We had to make the sad decision to say goodbye to Mrs Burgleson today; our little hospice patient we took in back in October. She had a huge tumor in her abdomen, and there was nothing that could be done for her because she was so old and fragile. She had already been through so much. Adrienne and Emily took her to the Dr on Wednesday, but yesterday she got worse and refused to eat anything. Today, we all said goodbye and me and Adrienne took her back in. I know she was tired and ready. She went to sleep very, very peacefully with me and Adrienne with her. We're all thankful for the time we got to know and love her, and super thankful that she went very peacefully.

Mrs Nala Ann Burgleson, thank you for a very sweet 6 months. I hope you had a wonderful life with us, and I hope you felt as loved as you have been ❤️
