Was cleaning tanks today and noticed a couple Yssichromis Pyrrhocephalus females with mouthfuls. Found 4 holders and got about 40ish fry. Have to use a stock photo for now of male as mine is hiding in rocks sulking because I dared stick my hands in HIS tank lol. Females are only 2-2.5” at this point and already starting. Love these little buggers.

Just add some Orange OB’s and you can celebrate Halloween year round with these guys 🙂 Pundamilia Azurus. They have faint blue bars when calmed down but go jet black when all fired up. If you’re looking for something different these guys really catch the eye. I have some females coming Friday and hopefully get these CARES fish reproducing.

Time for an update on things. I started cancer treatment on Monday and was wrecked for a day and a half but am feeling great this morning. I will get a monthly injection most likely the rest of my life. What I have is called Neuroendocrine Carcinoma. I am considered stage 4 as it has hit my liver hard….but these shots will prevent any more spread and should shrink down some of whats there. Surgery may become a possibility in the future, but for the next 4-6 months I will just be doing the shots. I am uncurable…. but very treatable. I will die with this cancer….but not from it. I am keeping all my CARES species and adding a couple more so this will be a place to come prinarily for critically endangered species. I am keeping my Polits and my Star Sapphires as they are personal favorites. Will post a list of everything I am breeding in the very near future. I really appreciate all the support and prayers and am coming back in a big way 🙂

It breaks my heart to say this….my daughter and her hubby split and she has moved home and taken up residence in my basement with my 2 grandchildren. My expansion plans are on hold for a while, but I have lots I am working with. I unfortunately forgot what it is like to have a 16 month old running around and though I thought I baby proofed everything….well I was wrong. Somehow she got her arm behind my big tank in the living room and unplugged it without anyone noticing. I came down Sunday morning and found my entire colony of F1 Sapphires floating. Lost them all 😭 I am mad at myself for not doing a better job of baby proofing as I can’t be mad at a 16 month old for doing 16 month old shenanigan’s. Good news is I have probably close to 500 F2’s up and coming and held back some to grow out that should be breeding sized in the near future. My big boy was almost 9 inches and was chipping up so beautifully……RIP guys………RIP.

Well folks, they can’t keep me down 🙂 I had my biopsy on last Weds and yesterday found out I have a Stage 4 Neuroendocrine Carcinoma with metastasis to the liver. The FANTASTIC news is my tumor is grade 1 (slow grower) and I am getting scheduled for a special PET scan with a copper based dye to determine if the cancerous cells receptors are open (high probability) and if so…..no chemo, no surgery, possibly radiation to a couple of the spots on my liver but down the road…..I will be getting a monthly injection of a targeted drug that should knock it straight into remission. I will be out of commission as far as mt fish go for the next month or so, but will be coming back strong in the very near future. Thank you for everyone’s prayers and positive vibes…..they were answered in the best way possible under given circumstances and I am forever grateful.

With a very heavy heart I must announce that Finebars Place will be closed until further notice. I was very recently diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer and have a procedure scheduled for tomorrow to get the diagnosis verified and staged. Once I get results my journey into healing begins. I would like to say thank you to all my past and present customers and if all goes according to plan, we will be having a grand reopening in a year or so. Thank you for all the wonderful support and letting me be a part of the community.

These are the fish I am moving into. Sold most my Malawi breeding groups except the Albino Flavescents and the F1 Sapphires. These CARES groups are already in tanks onsite and either growing out or already breeding. Coming soon:
White lips and Christmas Fulu’s. Probably a few more 🙂 had to use some stock pics as mine are still very young and growing out….but the pics are direct linages to my fish.

Got a tub full of goodness ready to go. Ruby Reds, some awesome OB’s….some pretty unique. There is a show quality little Turkis in there, some killer Polit Lion’s cove males. The F2 Sapphires are all spoken for already. PM for info or pics.
