🎆 Fourth of July Safety Tips from Perfect Pups! 🐾 🇺🇸
Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be scary and stressful for our dogs. Here are a few ways to help keep your pup safe and calm this holiday:
❤️ Exercise early. A long walk, hike, or play session before the festivities can help burn off extra energy.
🏡 Keep them indoors. Never leave your dog outside during fireworks, even in a fenced yard. Frightened dogs can jump fences or escape.
🎵 Create a calm environment. Close the curtains, turn on a TV, fan, or calming music to help drown out loud noises.
🦴 Offer enrichment. Stuff a Kong, use a lick mat, or give a long-lasting chew to keep them occupied.
🏷️ Check ID tags and microchips. Make sure your contact information is current in case your dog gets loose.
🐶 Give them a safe space. Allow your dog to retreat to their crate or a quiet room where they feel secure. Never force them to face the fireworks.
⚠️ Avoid bringing your dog to fireworks displays. Even confident dogs can become overwhelmed by the loud noises and crowds.
💊 If your dog has severe anxiety, talk to your veterinarian ahead of time about safe calming options or prescription medications.
