Amenities include: five foot high chain link fencing around two acres for large dogs, four foot high chain link fencing around a half acre for small dogs, secure area for entering and exiting the park, water troughs and fountains in each area, benches, parking, trash cans and mutt mitts for cleaning up after your dog. dog park safe:
*Installed solid, reasonably escape-proof fencing and a gate system that minimizes the risk of dogs escaping when dogs enter and exit the park.
*Provided separate, fenced areas for small—30 pounds or less—and large dogs.
*Established rules of conduct to protect users and their dogs

What rules do I need to follow when visiting Paws Park? Park rules are as follows:
Users of this facility do so at their own risk. Owners are legally responsible for their dogs and any injuries caused by their dogs. Dogs with a known history of, or who exhibit, dangerous behavior are prohibited. Dogs must be removed from the off-leash dog area at the first sign of aggression. Dogs must be healthy, fully immunized, de-wormed, licensed and wearing ID tags. Owners must immediately clean up after their dogs. Failure to do so can result in a fine. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs in heat are prohibited. Only two dogs per person are allowed at one time. Cooperation between dog owners is essential. No dogs under four months of age are allowed. Dogs must be on leash when entering or exiting the off-leash dog area. Dogs must be under the control of their handler and in view of their handler at all times. Please remove spiked collars, choke collars or pinch collars from your dog while inside the dog park. Handlers must be 18 years of age or older. Handlers must have possession of the dog leash at all times. Handlers must fill all holes dug up by the dog(s) under their control. No food is allowed within the off-leash area. No drinks in glass containers. What if I see someone break the rules? If a Paws Park board member is present - look for the flourescent yellow T-shirt - they will handle the incident, but in most cases, it's up to visitors to the park to police themselves and each other. If you see someone who forgets the rules - such as forgetting to pick up after their dog - politely introduce yourself, remind them of the rule, and thank them when they comply with the rule. Most dog owners are friendly folks who want to do the right thing. Can I bring my puppy to Paws Park? Dogs must be at least four months old and have their rabies shots. How can I make sure my children have a safe, fun visit to the park? Paws Park is a dog park. Not all dogs are child-friendly! Here are some tips to keep your child safe. Never allow your child to approach or pet a strange dog without the owner's presence and approval. Herding dogs may nip at children while attempting to round them up. A running, squealing or screaming child may attract a dog's attention. Direct eye contact is confrontational to dogs. An interested child staring into a dog's face may provoke a dog unintentionally. Never let your child have toys or food in the dog park. A friendly dog might knock down your child to get at a bright ball or cookie. One adult to supervise several children and the family dog is not sufficient to ensure everyone's safety and control. Be sure you can take care of everyone you bring to the park. Remember: All dogs have the potential to bite. If you do bring your children into the dog park, please teach them how to behave with animals and what to do in an emergency. Hide your face; tuck your arms and legs into your body. Curl up in a ball, face down on your hands and knees. Be as still and quiet as possible. Wait for help or until the dog has left. Do not stand. What should I do about an aggressive dog? First, remove your dog from the situation. Second, if it is safe, politely tell the dog's owner that you feel their dog is aggressive and ask them to take some action to control their dog or leave the park. If you do not feel safe or your request has no effect, call Little Rock Animal Services at 501.376.3067. It is up to the users of Paws Park to police each other in a friendly manner to keep the park safe for everyone. Should I bring my dog to the park when it's really hot? Is there a danger of heatstroke? Yes, there is a danger of heatstroke. We advise you to avoid bringing your dog to the park during the heat of the day. Long-haired breeds are in particular danger of overheating, so keep visits short, make sure your dog is drinking water, and always monitor for signs of heatstroke. Symptoms can appear quickly on our hot, humid Arkansas days. Signs of heat stroke are intense, rapid panting, wide eyes, salivating, staggering and weakness. Advanced victims will collapse and become unconscious. The gums will appear pale and dry. If you suspect your dog has heat stroke, place him/her in a tub of cool running water or spray with a hose. Be sure the cool water contacts the skin and doesn't simply run off the coat. Thoroughly wet the belly and run cool water over the tongue and mouth. Seek veterinary attention as soon as possible. How can I make Paws Park a success? Bring your dog and enjoy the park responsibly. Respect others and their dogs. Clean up after your dog. Tell all of your friends about the park.
