Happy Sunday! It’s been way too long since my last post. In all honesty there’s just not enough time in the day to keep up with socials, but I’m going to try to post more when I can! I thought it would be a good idea to answer a few FAQs on here.
🐾 Are you taking new clients? I am almost always taking new “bath appts.” What is a bath appt? A dog that doesn’t need a full body haircut. Dogs with longer coats that just need a little feet or feather trimming can still be accommodated. I simply don’t have the room in my schedule for any new full body haircuts at this time.
🐾 Do you brush teeth? I do not. I never have. Every groomer is different, but unless you are brushing daily there is no benefit to brushing only at grooming appts.
🐾 Do you express a**l glands? Upon request, yes. If they appear to be impacted, swollen, or painful then I will instead refer you to your vet. I do not believe this is something that should be done regularly, as it is proven to weaken the muscle to where the dog cannot do it on its own anymore. I do check every dogs glands once I get them in the tub, as I’ve found quite a few tumors/nodules/growths over the years. I will always report anything abnormal to you.
🐾 Is a nail trim included? Always! If your pup is not cooperative for the dremmel (filing), then they will only be clipped with the clippers. That is better than no trimming at all. If your pup doesn’t do well for nail trims I will let you know. Your vet should easily be able to accommodate you at that point, as they have multiple trained professionals on hand to handle situations like this.
🐾 Can you use a hypoallergenic shampoo? This is a common question and a great one! All of my products are hypoallergenic. Still to this date in my over 8 years in AZ I have only seen 2 dogs react to a product. And it was something with peppermint, which I no longer use. I put alot of time into my research of products for this very reason. If your dog is ever itchy after an appt do not hesitate to reach out.
🐾 Do you use muzzles? If needed, absolutely! If I am close to their face (which is necessary for doing nails) and I am focused on their feet, then I cannot also be paying attention to their face to notice any cues that they are getting agitated. If any part of me feels like I need to use one, I do. If your dog is attempting to bite the clippers or shears, they will be muzzled for their safety for the entirety of the haircut.
🐾 What do your services include? Nail trim plus filing (if able to), ear cleaning, a**l gland check, blueberry facial, shampoo, custom deep conditioning treatment, brush and blow dry. Trimming/custom haircut upon scheduled request.
🐾 Do you offer deshed treatments? I do! Desheds start at an additional $25. If your dog is on a recurring schedule and appts are no longer then 6 weeks apart, a deshed will not be needed.
🐾 My dog seems to not be feeling well today. Can I still bring them? I do not recommend any dog that is feeling under the weather to come in for grooming. If your dog is in the salon and is showing signs of kennel cough or anything else contagious, they would need to be picked up immediately so I can begin floor to ceiling disinfecting of the salon. This requires me to shut down for the rest of the day and is something I take very serious. Coughing, constant sneezing, nasal discharge and diarrhea should not be ignored.
🐾 Can my dogs come in together? If one dog can patiently wait while I groom the other, absolutely! However, if waiting makes any of the dogs anxious to the point where they are having several accidents, barking and scratching at the gate/door, and making the dog currently being groomed more nervous, then it’s best for them to come separate. Bulldogs and any brachycephalic breed must come separately.
🐾 Can you accommodate a later in the day appt time? Absolutely! I’ve got quite a few clients that need a 4 or 5pm appt time. With proper notice, I’m happy to accommodate your scheduling needs.
🐾 Do you do weekend appts? I do not. I am in the salon Monday-Thursday and some Friday mornings. My Friday morning schedule is currently full.
Your trust in me means the world. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your dog’s care. 🥹❤️
