Happy Friday! What better way to head into the weekend than a sweet update from an amazing adopter and his furever BFF. John is one of our incredible Veterans and was matched 3 years with Pudge, formerly Duckie. Here is what he shared!

“Here we are, 3 years later. Pudge has grown. She’s around 35 lbs today, and all one can ask in a dog. If she barks twice a day, that’s a lot. When I brought her home, she wouldn’t allow anyone near her. And while she will allow you to pet her if she knows you, she’s still shy. If you walk into the apartment with me, she’s pretty normal. If you encounter us on the street however, she’s very careful.

Her favorite toy. I can buy her a $50 toy. She always brings back the $2 squeaky bone, which she’ll chase until my arm falls off. Everyone loves her, even if she is timid. I call her “My Little Sweetheart” because she is. Although she’s a little angry at me here. It wasn’t yet treat time.

That said, Pudge and I are best buddies. I just wanted to a.), say “Thank you “ for pairing us and b.), to let you know that Pudge is happy and loved.

Please keep up the good work. God bless all of you at the RSF!

Many thanks,

John S.”

🎉Our first adoption of the year will be in the running for cutest adoption also! This sweet little girl found herself at the Maryland SPCA, due to no fault of her own. When she came in, she was thin, her nails were overgrown and she had signs that she had previously given birth at least once. While she had to be confused and scared, she was a perfect angel for the vet staff, allowing them to examine her completely and even trim her nails.

💜Her stay with her new friends at the SPCA would not be long, as her new family would meet her just a few days later! Her new mom had been looking for a special pup that could be an ESA for her 9 year old daughter, Nubia, as recommended by her physician. They were hoping to find a smaller pup as a companion to support Nubia both emotionally and physically, to help her be more active.

🐻Care Bear, as she’s now known, is enjoying the warmth and comfort of her new furever home with her new mom and big sister. She’s enjoying all the items from our adoption care package and enjoying getting to know her new family. We look forward to many more updates on their exciting journey!

🫶Thank you to all who have donated to help us sponsor Care Bear’s adoption fee and provide her with all the items she needs in her new home. Without our donors and sponsors, this would not be possible! If you have any new dog items you would like to donate, please let us know at [email protected]! If you’re able to contribute monetarily to help with adoption fees and care packages, every dollar helps and is appreciated!!

Happy Foster Friday! As we kick off our first weekend of the NFL season, we have a very special foster pup to share, courtesy of our friends at Renee’s Rescues.

Amaya is a 3-year-old female Lab mix, healthy and spayed, weighing in at just 55lbs. She came into rescue very pregnant and gave birth just days later. Amaya and her 6 surviving puppies initially had a rough start but after some good veterinary care and lots of TLC, they all eventually thrived and have been adopted, living happy and healthy lives.

It’s now Amaya’s turn for a happily ever after. The picture of resilience, she’s put her former life of neglect and malnutrition behind her, now healthy and happy to be her foster family’s shadow.

Amaya would love to just be near her family, whether on walks, cuddling on the couch or playing with her stuffies. Once she gets to know and trust her human friends, she becomes a Velcro dog. As such, she’d prefer a family that’s home often, with an atmosphere on the relaxed, lowkey side. She appears to want to be the queen of her own castle, so while she enjoys doggy play dates, a home with no other dogs is required.
