MRS. WALTER’S UPDATE:
Today, this beautiful soul went back home. ❤️
Not every cat wants the indoor life, and part of truly rescuing animals is respecting what is in their best interest, not what feels best to us emotionally.
Our mission at South Shore Feral Care is to give stray and feral cats the best life possible. Sometimes that means socialization and adoption. Other times, it means medical treatment, safety, nourishment, and returning them to the managed colonies they know as home.
Mrs. Walters was spayed, treated for an upper respiratory infection, and was prepared to have surgery to treat her eye entropion. However, it was discovered that she has deformed tear ducts, therefore surgery not required! Her babies have been in foster care and are just about ready to be adopted into their forever homes!
Mrs. Walters’ colony provides consistent food, clean water, shelter, and ongoing care. These cats are not “thrown back outside.” They are part of carefully managed communities where they are loved and protected by dedicated caregivers.
For many feral cats, forcing indoor life can create extreme stress and fear. A managed colony, with medical care and people looking out for them, is often the kindest and most humane outcome.
Rescue looks different for every cat. Compassion means meeting them where they are. 🧡
