✨ TROY, VIRGINIA / Apollo / Green Dogs Unleashed ✨

Sweet Apollo was brought to the vet when he was five weeks old. His mom had stopped feeding her litter, and the family, thinking they were doing the right thing, were feeding the babies chicken soup. The puppies weighted less than 1lb. The little sister didn’t make it, but Apollo and his brother were transferred to Green Dogs Unleashed rescue and both thrived! They both got adopted back in June… until Apollo was returned a few days ago. His adopter said a change in work schedule was the reason for returning Apollo.

Now, Apollo is a teenager. See comments for more recent pics. He is a fun boy, weights about 38lbs, is sweet and full of life. He lives with a 4lb chihuahua and they play together all the time. Apollo is very gentle with her even when she plays rough. He actually thinks he is her size and loves to try to be a lap dog. Apollo is friendly with adults, kids and other pets. He is currently on meds due to seasonal allergies, which have caused temporary hair loss on his hind legs and a slight rash. Other than that, Apollo is a happy, sweet boy! He loves going on car rides and snuggling with his people.

ADOPTION PUPDATE! I photographed sweet little Rocky during my rescue road trip! We had to improvise a quick shoot in my hotel room, after our movers messed up our dates (long story!!) and we had to make up for 2 days on our schedule. The rescue Green Dogs Unleashed (Virginia) was so understanding and flexible. Rocky was adopted soon after, and he will be featured in my 2022 calendar! I just couldn’t resist sharing this adorable . And yes he looks miserable. That’s what puppies do. 😅😅😅

Rocky was brought to a vet with his brother Apollo and their little sister. They were five weeks old and weighed less than 1 lb. Their mom had stopped feeding them, and the family was giving them chicken soup. The little sister didn’t make it sadly. Both boys were riddled with parasites, and the size of one-day-old puppies. The rescue took them in, thinking at least they could help them pass peacefully. But with a strict re-feeding protocol and round-the-clock care, they survived one day, then another…, and thrived! Both boys were adopted.

Rocky’s mom, Ellen, sent this sweet update: “Rocky is fabulous! He is growing like a w**d and is now 27 pounds. He loves playing with our neighbors’ dog, Penny. He enjoys basking on the porch and playing chase. He has a favorite stuffed animal that looks just like him. His training is coming along nicely.”

**JUDGE NEEDS A HOME**
Judge #21-38. Arrived 2/3/2021 at 7 years old.
Judge came to us in poor condition and he has made a comeback. He is a sweet boy who enjoys the time spent with you. Judge is incredibly playful; you would think that he was a puppy! Judge loves curling up on his cozy blankets and would love the same in his new home. Judge does smile, which can take a little time to get used to! Judge has shown resource guarding of high value items and he would need a savvy owner familiar with this. Judge needs to be the only pet.

New
MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE: Do you need some happy in your life? I’ve got the guy for you!! Zeus is a young 3-year-old pup who was rescued from an alleged dogfighting ring (the court case is still open, but Zeus was signed over to Sunny Meadows already, so he could begin his new life). He and 20 other doggies lived in appalling conditions, chained outside 24/7.

Zeus is hilarious in all the best ways, and we can't wait for him to find his home. The staff describes him as “not the brightest crayon in the bunch” but he will give you more love than you can dream of. Unfortunately, Zeus cannot be around other animals. But with people, he is amazing! Zeus has an almost constant head tilt. One of his front legs was broken a long time ago and healed wrong so when he runs, it’s this great, heartwarming bounding run.

For more info, visit sunnymeadows.org or email [email protected].
Sunny Meadows adopts all over the country. They may be able to arrange transport, but have limited resources and would prefer out-of-state adopters to come to them in Memphis.

Donate via my GoFundMe campaign : https://www.gofundme.com/f/halo-helps-banana?utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer

Purchase a Halo print (all money will go to Banana). Ships to US only:

❤️ head to www.SophieGamand.com/HaloHelpsBanana for all the info!

Banana came from the city shelter. They couldn’t afford her leg surgery, so asked their rescue partners to pull Banana. Lucky Dog Refuge CT stepped in. Once again, a small rescue organization is responsible for huge vet bills, because our cities are failing their animals. 😔 Let’s show Lucky Dog Refuge some community support 👏😀

Banana just came out of surgery, and the vet was able to save her leg! They also biopsied the bump on her head, but anticipate it will be benign. 🙏❤️

**CECE NEEDS A HOME
CeCe #21-270. Arrived 8/13/2021 at 6-7 years old.
Cece came to us in pretty rough shape. She is on the road to healing, but will take more time and likely lifetime maintenance for her skin issues. Cece is a very friendly girl, happy to see everyone and to make new friends. Cece becomes so attached to her people that she doesn't want to be alone!! Cece deserves a wonderful home where she can spread her joy with those she shares her life with. Unfortunately, CeCe seeks a home as the only pet.

**VINCENT NEEDS A HOME**
Vincent #21-279. Arrived 2/19/2021 at 2-3 years old.
Vincent is everyone's friend. He is a happy go-lucky kind of guy. Vin is looking for adopters who will enjoy his love for life as much as he does. Along with Vincent's love for life comes his need to learn self restraint. Vincent will need training and to learn how to control his, at times, exuberance. Vinny seeks to be in an only dog home, but he does well with cats. Vincenzo had stomach issues in his previous home and exhibited some separation anxiety.
