Our last Impulse Control class finished up yesterday morning. Well done everyone!
So much hard work over these last 6 weeks, each of them gained important skills and knowledge about their dogs.

We talk a lot about skill building and emotional regulation and how the two can relate to one another.
So how does that play out in our classes?
Take a look!

Here demo dog Walker is placed in the middle of 3 different dog and handler teams working on their ability to handle dogs in their space. In this exercise we’re use a pattern game called Super Bowls (Control Unleashed) to help create a pattern of regulation around seeing other dogs and moving towards and away from them.
This game gives the dogs’ some control over their surroundings and how fast (or slow) they want to move towards that distraction. This helps the dogs regulate themselves without the threat of punishment or correction if they make a mistake.

“He’s golden but I don’t think this one retrieves” -Hoshi.

Hoshi hangs out with us on Fridays for Day Training and we love every time he visits! He’s a very spunky, fun, and charming little Shiba.
Day training gives us the opportunity to help Hoshi work on some public manners, basic obedience skills, and it gives him a chance to socialize with other doggy friends!
