It’s more than keeping the horses looking their best. Grooming is an opportunity to build trust, practice patience, and learn responsibility while caring for these incredible animals. The horses respond to gentle, consistent attention, making every interaction a valuable experience for both the participants and the horses.

🐴 Research shows that children with ADHD who participate in equine assisted activities can experience meaningful improvements in attention, impulse control, and self regulation, sometimes within just a few weeks. But what makes working with horses so effective?

Part of the answer is the horse itself. Horses are present, responsive, and honest. They react to what a child is doing in the moment, not what happened five minutes ago. A child who struggles to sit still at a desk may discover that connecting with a horse requires focus, patience, and awareness. The horse gently encourages the child to regulate their emotions and actions without criticism or judgment.

The physical experience also plays an important role. Riding engages the core, challenges balance, and provides rhythmic movement that can support neurological pathways connected to attention and sensory regulation.
And sometimes, the simplest answer is that horses are engaging. A child who has difficulty focusing in a classroom may stay completely present with a horse because the experience feels meaningful, exciting, and rewarding.

One of the many things that makes Circle T Ranch so special is the incredible people who give their time and heart to our horses.

Today we're sharing a video of one of our amazing volunteers giving Pale Face a cooling sponge bath on a warm day. It's a simple act of kindness, but it's moments like these that help keep our horses healthy, comfortable, and ready to make a difference in the lives of others.

Pale Face has quite the story. Before coming to the ranch, he was imported from Europe as a high-level show jumper in Los Angeles and even has his own passport! Today, his journey has taken on a new purpose as he helps support the people we serve through meaningful equine programs.

You don't have to ride a horse to experience the benefits of Equine Assisted Learning.

Sometimes, something as simple as hand-feeding a horse can create a meaningful connection. These quiet interactions help build trust, encourage patience, strengthen communication, and boost confidence in a calm, supportive environment.

Horses have an incredible ability to meet people where they are. Through moments like these, participants develop important life skills while forming genuine bonds with our equine partners.

It's amazing how one small interaction can leave a lasting impact.
