☀️ Summer adventures are here! And that means means more outdoor fun, but also more chances for ticks to hitch a ride on your pup. Ticks can carry Lyme disease, which can be really serious for dogs if it’s not treated. Read below for the tips and tricks to help keep your pet safe!
🐶 Signs of Lyme Disease
- Limping (that might shift from one leg to another)
- Fever and loss of appetite
- Lethargy or unusual pain
- In severe cases, vomiting, weight loss, and kidney issues
🛡️ Prevention is key to help keep your dog safe:
Stick to trails and avoid tall grass or thick brush and keep your dog on vet-approved tick prevention (like monthly chews or topicals). And always do tick checks after every outdoor hang — behind ears, between toes, under the collar, and near the tail are all popular tick hideouts
🧷 Found a tick?
Use fine tweezers or a tick remover, grab as close to the skin as possible, and pull straight out. Don’t twist as it can leave bits behind.
A little prevention goes a long way in keeping your pup happy, healthy, and ready for more summer fun. 🐾💚
