The position is for Stable Hand & Outfitter Guide opportunity. Position may be just for Stable Hands if required certifications and experience do not exist to be an outfitter guide.

We are looking for a motivated worker who enjoys working with horses that can provide consistency and quality customer service. This is not a job for those who frequently need schedule adjustments or last-minute call-ins. Ensuring we take care of our horses is a top priority. We are the largest and premier horse boarding facility on the central Oregon Coast.
Depending on experience, this position will involve an initial training and shadowing period of 1-3 weeks.
$13 rate during all initial training, with raise upon completion in 1-3 weeks.
JOB DUTIES
--- GUIDES ONLY: Tacking, grooming, and saddling horses. Engaging with customers and guiding a small string of 6-8 horses with customers on trail rides.
---Feeding horses, rinsing and filling water buckets. Monitoring of water and hay intake.
---Mucking out (cleaning) stalls and providing bedding.
---Cleaning of stable common areas by sweeping and raking, and performing minor repairs on fixtures. Ability to perform minor fixtures on electric pasture fencing.
---Turning horses in and out to pasture and paddocks per regular schedules, and as requested by boarders.
---Observe and report any signs of sickness or injury of horses.
---Handle one-off sales of grain, bedding, tack, etc, as well as service requests from our members.
---Operation of farm equipment, namely a tractor to handle raking of riding arenas.
---Perform other general labor, including mowing and w**d whacking, brush cutting, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
---Must have a valid drivers license. Experience towing horse trailer is a bonus, but not required.
---Drug free workplace. We operate farm equipment and handle horses, so no exceptions.
---Ability to lift and carry items (grain and pellets bags) of about 50lbs, and lifting and moving of 100lb hay-bales into carts.
---Pass a background check. We have children around our barn.
---Previous horse handling experience
ADDITIONAL NOTES
Employees who have horses are not required to board at our facility, and it's actually preferred if they don't.
We do not trade work for board or do anything "under the table". This is not only illegal (tax evasion and labor violations), but it typically results in the workers making far less than minimum wage. We are committed to our workers being compensated fairly and holding firm expectations on the care of the horses entrusted to our care.
