Social Media Is Not Your Courtroom

Here’s the truth: social media is being abused. It’s no longer just a space for sharing life updates or opinions—it’s become a playground for attention-seekers who throw out accusations, half-truths, or outright lies without thinking twice. People run to their platforms with outrage, post stories with no context, and blast individuals or companies in ways that are misleading, defamatory, and often flat-out wrong.

And the consequences? Very real.

Businesses have lost customers. Employees have been harassed or even fired. Reputations—built over years—have been torn down in hours because someone wanted to go viral or “speak their truth” without having all the facts. This isn’t harmless venting. This is slander. It’s defamation. And it hurts people—financially, mentally, and emotionally.

What makes it worse is the complete lack of accountability. No one follows up when they find out they were wrong. No retractions. No apologies. Just a messy trail of damage while they move on to the next story.

Before you post that angry video, screenshot, or call-out: ask yourself if you’ve actually tried to understand the full picture. Have you reached out for clarification? Have you considered that you might not know the full story?

There are proper channels for complaints, for resolution, for real dialogue. But instead, people choose public shaming, and then act surprised when they’re called out for defamation.

Enough is enough. The internet doesn’t make you immune to the consequences of your words. Just because it’s easy to post doesn’t mean it’s right.

Think before you post. Or better yet—talk to people directly before you try to destroy them online or send threatening or hateful messages.

Does anyone know a Molly Teslar?

She’s been messaging the clinic, making serious accusations, threatening to shut us down, and spreading misinformation. It’s frustrating when people don’t take the time to know the facts before jumping to conclusions.

We work hard every day to care for animals and do what’s best for them. If people actually took the time to understand the effort and compassion that goes into this work, they might think twice before attacking those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

If anyone has any insight into who she is or why she’s doing this, please reach out. And to those who continue to support and appreciate the work we do—thank you.

Setting the Record Straight on Surgery, Expectations & Appreciation

Lately, we’ve seen a troubling trend on social media—unrealistic expectations for surgery, public blame for complications, and outright bashing of veterinarians and staff. As veterinary professionals, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of care, but no surgical procedure—human or animal—is without risk.

For context: In human medicine, surgical complication rates range from 2% to 20%, depending on the procedure and patient factors. In veterinary medicine, the numbers are similar.

At Serendipity Clinic, we performed over 3,000 surgeries last year, with less than 20 post operative complications (including patient induced inflammation or infection)—an incredibly low rate. This reflects the expertise, dedication, and care we put into every patient. However, successful outcomes don’t just depend on the surgery itself—they also rely on proper post-operative care and monitoring at home.

Pet owners play a critical role in recovery. Following discharge instructions, restricting activity, administering medications as directed, and monitoring for signs of complications are all essential to success. When aftercare is neglected, complications can and do occur—and that is not the fault of the veterinary team.

Adding to the frustration, we know some competitive veterinarians discourage clients from using reasonably priced surgical centers because it takes money out of their own pockets. This is not about patient care—it’s about profit. High-quality surgery should be accessible and affordable without fear-mongering or guilt tactics.

We encourage everyone to approach these discussions with realistic expectations, responsibility, and appreciation for the professionals working tirelessly to care for your pets. Constructive conversations help everyone—attacks and misinformation do not.
