Regular grooming isn’t about taking coat off, it’s about keeping it on 🐾✨
Many people believe the best way to keep their dog’s coat long and fluffy is to avoid the groomer and stretch out appointments as much as possible.
This is actually ❌ incorrect ❌
A coat that is groomed regularly and correctly (every 4–8 weeks) is far more likely to stay long, healthy, and beautiful. When owners and groomers work together on consistent maintenance, it helps prevent severe matting and avoids the need for a big clip-down!
On the other hand, dogs that only visit the groomer once or twice a year often arrive with heavy matting.
In these cases, a full shave-down is usually the only safe and humane option.
Once matting starts at home, it cannot be removed without causing significant pain and stress to the dog.
Groomers then have no choice but to carefully get their blades underneath the mats to free the dog from a tight, felted “sheepskin” coat.
