Today’s highlight: bielefelder chickens 🐓

We raise a couple breeds of chickens, but we especially love the bielefelders because they are an awesome dual purpose breed!

I’ve also found that they have a mild temperament and don’t eat very much, preferring to forage or eat kitchen scraps over feed!

Back in January, we swapped a few cases of fruit for three little Kune Kune piglets.

They grew up entirely on kitchen scraps and farm leftovers—basically free feed that would’ve been compost!

After a little escape-artist drama, we just finished processing the last two today.

Honestly, I’m thrilled with the results for something that cost us basically nothing!
