Look at that head tilt!! We have Ghost here for a few days until he is big enough to go into puppy daycare while his mama works. Duke is loving his brother here again and they are both getting lots of playtime and sleep!

When you give a puppy a blueberry… Duke didn’t know what to do at first with it, but eventually decided he really likes them! New object for socialization ✅

Introducing Duke to the flock! He did great for his first full training inside the pen. He has been exposed to the flock since he was 5 weeks old, but never this close. The ducks and geese were all interested in him but didn’t come too close. We are looking for a relaxed but interested posture and boy did he deliver. He did think about getting closer but one small vocal correction and he sat back. Until his recall is near perfect, we will work on a leash for the safety of all the animals at the ranch. So far, he is doing wonderful. Training at this age is lots of small steps over and over to build confidence, consistency and trust between the dog and handler. It’s also so fun to build these relationships from the ground up!

We got the honor of keeping this girl for a few days last week. You may remember her from a few months ago when she was just a little baby. I met her mama years ago when I helped their first dog Panda overcome her fear of men. When Panda unexpectedly passed away, their hearts were broken. Lovie filled that void and was the bestest girl for her mama as Sunny went through cancer treatment. Sunny finished her race in May with all the dignity and strength that she fought with. We will forever miss her and being able to continue to love on this family will always be a blessing to me. Lovie is truly a doll and we always love the snuggles we get when she is here!

Helping Dad work on the lawnmower. Duke did great with the noise and enjoyed just hanging out at my feet. Afterwards we listened to the big garage fan, leaf blower, shop vac and air compressor with the same relaxed demeanor. This boy will have solid nerves as he gets older.

We have a busy few weeks and are completely booked through the middle of July. We love dogs of all sizes here and we are excited to have everyone from our large shepherd babies down to our little dachshund babies and everyone in between. We also will be starting our next service dog prospect, Duke. Join us for all the tips, videos, boarding updates and availability! (And of course cute German shepherd puppy pictures!)

Isn’t she so pretty?! We love having this girl here. We are completely booked for the remainder of June, but have some openings the first 2 weeks of July. We will be training Duke as well but we will still be boarding others as well.

June is PTSD Awareness Month and it’s the perfect time to introduce the newest Service Dog in Training (SDiT) at Liberty Shepherds Dog Academy: Duke🐾 He will be trained for Deep Pressure Therapy, Blocking, Interrupting Behaviors, retrieval of items and alerting to high blood pressure and anxiety attacks. We are so excited to have him and cannot wait to see all the wonderful things he will do! This type of training usually takes a little over two years so you will see a lot of him in the future! Always remember you are not alone!
